Ever catch a motorcycle in the chest?

Ask our buddy Chris Orcutt (aka "Jersey") what that feels like and what injuries he sustained.
He was in the ICU in an induced coma for some time. Ribs, spleen, etc and he used to be JACKED... can't imagine what it woulda done to a guy my size. I'll see if I can find details in a thread somewhere on here.

    EDIT: Yeah, ruptured spleen http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...-Jersey-Update

Obviously that's a more extreme case.... and I'm not saying a chest protector could have prevented his injuries, but given his crash scenario from 2006 I'd much rather be wearing one than not.

Most typical injury that it prevents are rib injuries. I've crashed, landed on my side and had my elbow driven into my ribs before. Nothing broken but I sure was uncomfortable for a few weeks. I had nearly an identical fall after I got my chest/back protector from Impact Armor and zero rib soreness.

Yeah, ribs and assorted internal issues are the main things the chest/rib protector will help with.

I started wearing full torso protection after a crash broke my ribs pretty good.

I only crashed one time with the new protection and ended up with a couple of bruises on my rib area. I imagine with no protection those bruises would have been more broken ribs.

Its pretty thick. Not as thick as I thought it was going to be after reading the reviews. I have no experience with the astar stuff. Id say its around 2.5 to 3 inches thick.
