there is a big hoo-haa going on now within the LRRS racers forum about cornerworkers. The problem is that cornerworkers are very scarce and it could delay racing and practice this year if we don't have enough.
The track runs cornerworking classes every friday morning and saturday morning I believe on race weekends. You could work 1/2 day, 1 day, all the weekend, whatever you choose. You get your gate entry paid, additional pay (not much, I think $20 per day) and you lunch paid for.
It would be really cool to say that NESR racing would supply a corner worker for every race weekend for at least 1/2 day. I am willing to do my part in this, anyone else? You don't have to be a racer (obviously) or a team member. Anyone can do it and it really gives you an insight into cornering techniques and a very close-up view of the track.
Maybe one of our pit crew could corner work (taking it in turns) for a day each weekend and give fedback to the NESR racers about how our cornering is compared to other people in that corner.?
Maybe the Double-Apex guys can make a commitment also?

I'll see what we can put together. We have some folks that want to help out so I'm sure we can direct them to other areas.
If it looks like I can get away from the bikes for a while I would do a half day.

i'll do a half day any day i can get up there.
I'll do half a day, if not needed in the pits. It would be cool to give more feedback to the team too.

I'm up for helping out.
Now, about those umbrella girls...![]()
question: can you attend class once and be certified for the season? or do ya hafta hit the class each weekend you're gonna work?Originally posted by Degsy

I'm definetly up for it, just post when the first track day is, What time to be there, and i'll work the whole day.
Shoot the J!
OK, sweet. I will post a message on the NEAR forum that NESR racing will supply one cornerworker each weekend.

OK. I have posted it on the NEAR list (New England Area Racers) that NESR Racing will provide a corner worker for an entire race weekend for each weekend of racing, so don't let me down. I will do my share early in the season before I start racing, but I need others to chip in also. The US marshalls are very grateful for our pledge and I suspect we might have encouraged a few other teams to make similar committments. Anyone who can get there fridays would also be a bonus but not neccessary.
BTW, first race weekend, Fri/Sat/Sun april 25/26/27

2)To post a msg. saying that we will provide someone for the entire weekend evey weekend was a bit premature.
3)DONT blame us for letting you down if it doesnt happen.![]()

We had 6 people say they would help out when they can. If we can't cover the weekends AFTER I start racing (last 3 weekends) with 6 people it is a pretty sorry state of affairs. I made a statement for NESR racing, not anyone else. If it comes down to it, I'll cover it (which will probably happen going by past experience). I'm not THAT gullible.Originally posted by PinHead

Okay. Ya'll hafta understand that doing this is helping out LRRS and the Marshals, and putting NESR Racing in good graces within those organizations. Don't look at this as helping out NHIS, 'cuz it's not. Nor would I encourage anyone here to contribute to NHIS in any other way than gate fees. PLEASE understand this is to help out the sanctioning bodies that make motorcycle roadracing possible there, NOT helping out the owners of NHIS whom pay so little creed to the motorcyclists...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?

I realize this is a good thing and I am willing to help out, I just think there were too few names on the posts behind me willing to work. There are 27 full days thoughout the season that you will need at least one person to work the whole day, thats allot.
Could 2 peeps from our group switch off durring the day between races so long as they are certified? I have never cornerworked and would like a little heads up on what to expect throughout the day. I would imagine that cornerworking a track day is allot different than working a race?

As long as the people are "trained" they can cornerwork for 1 day, 1/2 day, switch off between races, between practices or whenever they please (within reason).
