Saw the Doc again today for a follow-up on my surgery... They removed the stitches (about twice as many as I was expecting, 20 + all together) and took some more x-rays.
Doc said I did a damn good job on it but he was able to piece it back together well so it's looking good for how complex the fractures were... We ditched the bandages & splint for a true cast which I'll have for another 3 weeks![]()
I was really hoping for a splint so I could start moving it around ASAP, but no dice.
I asked him if he thought I'd be racing in 4 weeks for the Loudon Classic... he kinda skirted the question which I took as either "We'll see" or "you shouldn't, but you're probably gonna anyway if you can find a way"..... Sooooo, it looks like it'll be another 3 weeks before I have a better idea about whether or not i'll be riding in the Classic. It'll probably be a last minute call. Obviously I wanna race, but i'm not gonna push it if i'm not ready.
The good news is he told me the risks/complications should i bang it again are no worse than normal once it fully heals. The only issue is arthritis. He said there was a good amount of damage to the cartilage so i WILL have arthritis in my wrist... whether it'll start bothering me in 2 years or 25 years he can't say.
Sooooo, that's all I got for ya now... Next update will be on Thurs June 7th when I go back to get the cast off. Hopfully at that time I can get copies of the x-rays or somethin for you guys to look at... the hardware inside is pretty beefy![]()

I broke my foot slipping down some wet granite stairs at Ftrains house the wednesday b4 we left for Deals Gap. My left foot, shifter foot. Well I wasn't going to NOT GO. So I cut the back of an old sneaker off and jammed my cast in, then velcro'd the shoe on to the cast with a few straps. I switched the shift to GP, and went for it.
I missed a few downshifts going into a few corners hot which was a little scary. I was dragging sneaker and cast going round some of the corners. I had to ride and I made it work.
Moral of the story is...........if you want to ride you'll find a way. You probably can get enough range with the cast to ride. By the time it's race weekend you'll not have any pain and the cast will be there more to keep it stable. I say ride.
KB
The cast will probably be off by the Classic weekend so that won't be an issue but strength & mobility will be. I'll have to do the math, but i'm pretty sure the AM championship is already lost, so we'll see. If I'm ready, I'm ready but I'm not gonna jeopardize my health for it.

I know this will sound stupid but when i broke my leg I drank as much milk as i could. My bones healed in half the time. The Doctor couldn't believe it. Something to think about anyway.

My boss's son broke his arm very badly. He got some kind of sonic impulse machine to send an impulse to his arm which is supposed to heal bones faster.
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
I have to tell you from experience... wrist injuries make riding fast at loudon extremely difficult and painful. There's huge load placed on this joint in the braking zones and it's extremely painful... You can't really wrap it tight because you need the joint to move, and blood to flow to your hands to get any control of the bike.
Don't be surprised if it takes a while to get comfy on a bike again.
My orthepedic has told me that it makes no difference after the fact. It makes a difference if it is something that has been done throughout your life and mostly in your youth. I put down close to a gallon a day trying to speed the healing of my leg and it still took over 9 months.
Pete, take some extra perks and tape your wrist up and you can do it. Don't make me race that EX and show up clayton.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I also have one. It works on electro magnetics to stimulate the flow of red blood cells. Insurance won't cover them under a certain amount of time.
Pete you're welcome to use mine but it's to be used something like 12 hours a day and i don't think it'll make a ton of difference with such a short healing time.

We must have different electronic healer thingys. I say we strap them both to Pete and watch him grow some kind of superbone.

Pete, shitty deal bro, but I hear you. If you're ready, you're ready. If not, you can heckle your buddies. I'll be shooting for the classic as well, but not taking any wild chances.. if the xray shows its not ready, i dont race either.
super sonic magnetic bone fixer-uppers? any way these things would work for a collar bone?

"watch him grow some kind of superbone."
Yeah he might need one !
Sorry Pete I couldn't resist.
Thanks for the offers guys... I've already got a superbone, I get one almost every night... but what man can't use two of those, huh? I mean am I right? am I right?
I'd actually like to check out this super duper bone grower thingamajig contraption if I could... sounds intriguing.

Like i said you never know. I was not feeling well for about a month. Insane pain shooting threw my left side. I went to one Doctor and he told me i could have cancer. He suggested a Colonoskapy. I had to wait a week for the appointment. 2 days before the date i had such pain i went to the emergency room. Come to find out i had kidney stones. Not all Doctors know what there talking about. All i know was my leg was broken pretty bad from the Motorcycle accident and i took the cast of in 2 months. Luck or Milk...who knows. The Doc seemed to think it helped.
