Daytona packing list

I didn't want to clog up the "planning" thread with this, so I figured I would start a new thread.
Assuming we are putting our stuff into Dan's trailer, we need to make a list of large items we hope to bring and see if Dan can fit all of it into his trailer. We may need to remove items if Dan can't fit it all.

I'll start the list. Gerard, Degsy...feel free to add/remove items.

Gerard's race bike
Degsy's race bike
Pit bike
Pit board
Pit box (do we need to bother with one or not ?)
Ramp (if we bring pit box)
Large tent
Gordon's tool box
Degsy's tool box
Gerard's tool box
Luggage (assume one or two large cases each)
Spares (rims, tires, etc)
Boxes 'o supplies (chemicals, tire warmers, etc)
Gas cans

Anything else ?

How do we want to handle logistics with Dan ? Bring everything to his place in Somersworth, NH ?

G-man -Do we need all 3. I know that mine is pretty complete and we have been using Gordon's all year. Degs do you think we need yours just trying to save weight??

G-man -I think we should carry these our selves. You can have 2 checked bags and 1 carry on again saving weight)
-Spares (rims, tires, etc)
-Boxes 'o supplies (chemicals, tire warmers, etc)
-Gas cans

Anything else ?

G-man -I say yes to bringing everything to Dan's

Get drunk, load trailer, watch race video. I still need to get the brakes done, (truck is in shop today), a hinge welded (can do here at work next week), and swap plug wires. I'm looking into an aux tranny cooler too.

I'd like to keep the weight down If possible, can we take one or two sets of tools, and can you take your luggage with you on the plane?

Yes, I think Gerard already ordered the airline tickets. Now I feel bad...are you stuck driving down alone? Do you need help driving?

I'm sure we can reduce tool sets...bring one common set or something like that.

Ya...luggage can go on the plane. Don't know what I was thinking.

If you want any help at all with your truck or your bike before leaving please let me know. Unfortunately this weekend is out for me, but I can help out any night next week.
I decided I had better go up and start my winter routine at the cottage this weekend since I'll be gone to Daytona the next 2 weekends and it's getting pretty cold up in the White Mtns. Taking out the boat, the dock, draining the pipes,etc. I'd be glad to help ya out any night next week.

We can bring stuff up to Dan's place and load up there. Do we need wheel chocks?

I say we put all relevent tools in Gordon's toolbox and take that.

I also say each rider gets to load up one standard sized cardboard box with spares and consumables and that goes on the trailer also.

I'm also concerned about Dan driving on his own. What's the scoop dan?

The whale is chocked for 5 bikes.

Dan...need any help getting your truck ready? Any last minute maintenance you need done? I'd be happy to help out...just let me know.

What night do you want to load the trailer? The only night that's bad for me is Tuesday (tomorrow) night. Kristin will be out Tuesday night, so I'll have the kids. If tomorrow happens to be the day of choice, I can work on getting a babysitter.

I have the Daytona tapes if ya want to watch them. If we don't get a chance to watch them before we leave, I can bring them to FLA in hopes that the condo has a VCR. (not sure if it does or not)

Gordy, I have a friend who is supposed to wire up the elec. brakes, I bought the harness from GM, if worse comes to worse, maybe you could help. I'd love a copy of the race tapes.

I'm off to buy a 10lb fire bottle.

So, what's the latest Dan? How's the knee feeling? Any concerns about the trip down? Any last minute things to iron out?

What time do you want to start packing up on Friday? I'll be down with some stuff for the trailer, plus the Daytona tapes if you want to watch them. Can you PM me your address in Somersworth?

Well, since you asked, I'd like to get a friend a room (floor space if need be) to help me out with the drive. How's the condo? Did Mike back out? Any floor space available?

Knee is going down slow, only thing that sets me back is driving.

Barb thinks she'll get car sick, and she is getting tired real easy now. Steve and Lisa have to come back on Saturday, This leaves us to drive back alone. Barb's checking on flight status now, we may not get one.

Loading the trailer tomorrow is fine, anytime after 6:00 is OK. I may still need help installing spark plug wires in the Avie, but the reach is easy. My electric brake controller was junk, new one should be here tonight, I bought one with a harness pre-wired, should be good to go, just hang the controller.

I sifted through my tools, and will try to clean out the beast tonight.

The condo situation may be a bit dicey. We already have 5 people staying there. (Gordon, Gerard, Degsy, Beth, and Spence) I think Mike is going also, but have not heard if he needs to crash at the condo also. (?) The condo is a studio, with one bed and one pull out couch, so it'll be a little crowded. The reservation confirmation emphasizes that there is a 4 person max in the room. I haven't stayed at this resort before, so I have no idea how strongly they enforce the policy of 4 max. Another issue is we need to check out of the resort Saturday morning. I guess we're going to get a hotel room for Sat and Sun night. If there are no other options, he can crash on the floor...as long as the resort police don't kick us out...

I certainly don't want that. I just thought if Mike was doing Jennings then I could slip in a driver/pit crew to alleiviate some work for Barb and help with the room in Mike's place.

I'll be there tomorrow night, but I won't need any sort of meal. I'll probably have dinner with the family, since it will be the last dinner with them for a week and a half, and then drive down to your house after. Can you PM me your address ?

I guess Mike (Collision Pro) is NOT going to Daytona.

Like I said, if your friend has no other place to stay, he's welcome to crash on the floor, but I can't guarantee we won't get hassled by the resort. Not familiar with the resort and how picky they are.
