New ECK team member

East Coast Kneedraggers proudly announces that we have a new rider for 2011.

This guy needs no introduction... After taking a 2 year hiatus from racing, the 2008 CCS Ultra Light Superbike National Champion, Mr. Gene Berrio is back, folks. And we're pumped to have him on board.


Gene began racing in 2004 with a 1989 Honda Hawk GT (nt650).

In 2006, he moved to Amateur status, earned the Amateur Achievement Award for Ultra Light Superbike and finished 4th in points for Lightweight Grand Prix.

In 2007 he advanced to Expert status and finished 3rd in points for Ultra Light Superbike.

In 2008 Gene set the LRRS Hawk GT lap record. He went on to win all the races he finished and finished 3rd in points for Ultra Light Superbike. Also in 2008 he traveled to Daytona for his first time. With his strategic, methodical planning and patience, Gene snatched a victory from the Defending National Champion at the 25th running of Club Cup Series Race of Champions in Ultra Light Superbike to become the 2008 CCS Ultra Light Superbike National Champion.

This just in from the Hawk Forum!

"In a move questioned by some but hailed by most as brilliant, Gino Berrio will race for ECK Racing next year.

East Coast Kneedraggers is an established team in the LRRS series but championships have elduded them. With this new team member the drought should be over.

Gino will be sporting the Black and Yellow on his Hawk this year and it is rumored he will be making a signifigant return to racing after a 2 year hiatus.

T1a Manager Michael "Doc" Lemire was quoted as saying "Gino is a founding member of T1a Racing, a mentor and a leader for the team, He is an outstanding racer and it is sad to see him go but T1a wishes him luck and will be cheering for him."

It is rumored that with Mr. Berrio leaving, decreased member participation at the races and a lack of sponsorship, T1a Racing may be relegated to an internet forum provider.

This should be an exciting year for Mr. Berrio. Go Gino Go!".

This is a great opportunity that I have been thinking of for some time.


I am still a T1A member, Hawk Nation member, MABE racer and will never forget what everyone has done for me over the years. My humble being really underplays what it is that I do. Everyone that talks to me about seeing me on the track or helping out really puts it into perspective for me. For that, I thank you. You keep my drive going. I'm just out there having fun riding and help out. That’s it.
I will continue to do what I have been doing just under a ECK black and yellow banner. I hope I can meet the group’s expectations and have a blast doing so.

By the way, folks... as we're down to a 2 man team this year, we're considering the possibility of maybe adding another rider to our line-up. If you're committed to racing a relatively full season in 2011 and beyond and would be interested in becoming a part of ECK, feel free to let me know.

We'd prefer to add someone on a middleweight machine to the team with a couple years of racing experience, but anyone is welcome to apply.
