The Celtic Racing / Fast by Ferracci AMA Factory Experience
As many of you are aware, Penguin is going to Barber Motorsports Park October 10th to hold a school on the Monday following the AHRMA Vintage Festival on October 7-9. This massive events brings in 30,000 spectators and features racing from four different motorcycle disciplines. For anyone who has never seen Barber, it is truly one of the most beautiful tracks in the world.
Any riders who have single or twin cylinder motorcycles are eligible to race at the AHRMA races, and Penguins Monday event is a chance for both racers and non-racers alike to get track time at this facility.
Your Factory Ride
For $1000 total cost, Team Celtic Racing / Fast by Ferracci is offering riders the "AMA Factory Experience". The package includes pickup and dropoff from either Fast by Ferracci in PA, the Celtic Racing HQ in Nyack, NY, or a location to be announced in Mass or NH. The full Ducati Factory 18 wheeler will transport the bikes to Barber where riders will ride out of the full AMA rig for the weekend. The team will supply mechanics (to be shared by a maximum of 3-4 riders each), tools, pit lane support and setup / suspension expertise. Eraldo Ferracci himself will be on hand to offer his expert riding / tuning / suspension advice during your experieince. This is a special opportunity to have world championship class people at your service to help you get the most out of both yourself and your motorcycle. This service can be utilized not only for the Penguin Track Experience on Monday October 10th, but also for the AHRMA Vintage festival races on October 8&9.

The attraction to this is that for most guys, it's a $500 round trip to get a bike to Barber anyway. For an extra $500, to have the experience of riding out of an AMA rig, having a mechanic and pit wall advisor, and having access to a world caliber tuner all weekend long...it's worth the once in a lifetime experience, particularly at a track as beautiful as Barber Motorsports Park. If you want to race AHRMA (any single or twins rider can do this) you'll get the full experience as there will be tens of thousands of spectators on hand to watch.
You have no idea how badly I want to capitalize on this... Nice job getting this setup, hopefully you have a full truck.
So, what's holding you back?? Barber alone is worth the trek....
The transport thing is just through Celtic, but I thought that it was a cool enough opportunity that I was happy to promote it. If we get a couple extra students at Barber, great....but it's a pretty special opportunity for riders to get this experience. The going rate to ride a factory support bike as a rider is $10,000/weekend......and not everyone has the resume to get them to take the $$. This of course includes the use of a bike (but not crash damage) - but it puts the whole deal here in a bit of perspective.
Cost, and a complete lack of a single or twin to campaign. My resources are tied up building a machine so I can return to LRRS in 2012. Doing this would be awesome, but may actually delay me rejoining the local series so... I'm torn right now.
My work productivity is going to suffer severely today as I read the AHRMA rulebook...
Edit: Seeing as I brought up the cost, here's the breakdown assuming you're running one class -
$1000 - Kick ass transport and support package
$65 - AHRMA Competition Membership
$120 - Practice on Friday
$170 - Two day's race entries if signed for one class up before Sept 23rd
There is an option to rent transponders if you don't have one already but the cost isn't listed. That leaves sleeping (camping on site an option?) and eating, and transport for yourself down and back (Carpool!). Pretty damn reasonable for the size of the event in my mind. Problem is, every time I justify it to myself, my ULSB project bites me in the ankle...

Do they supply the bike as well?
Part time expert,part time hooligan
No, but they will help you set up your bike...which is even better in the long run. Nothing like having a legendary tuner at your disposal all weekend long.
Any idea whats going on there on tuesday?
Id be down for a 2 day event, but just Monday.....a bit too far to go.
(No racing for me so the weekend is out)

WHAT A DEAL!!!!!!!!!
any word on the pickup location in MA? and whens the deadline?
Nothing Tuesday, but there is a huge weekend Friday-Sunday with AHRMA...and anyone with a single or twin can race. If you dont race (or have a four cylinder) it's a really cool show down there and worth the trip just to spectate (over 30,000 people came to watch last year).
