Think of the extra rpm's you could pull out of the motor with that new lightweight piston!

I can't believe the amount of pressure and heat that must have been in that tiny motor. The cylinder looked ok, until I looked closer. Its cracked (big cracks, 3" long) in FIVE different places.

Con-rod is getting replaced. I don't care if its straight or not. That kind of force can't be good for the long haul.

When the valve stem broke and the valve hit the piston, it caused the connecting rod to bend and the piston to get jambed in the cylinder bore. At the same instant the now floating valve head was pummeled between the cylinder head and the piston dome. This caused a dramatic loss of RPM's and a resulting loss of intake tract velocity. Because the motor could no longer sustain combustion cycles, the crank stopped spinning. Once the ECU was no longer receiving a signal from the crank sensor, it will not fire the secondary coil. This causes an immediate loss spark. See? It's clearly electrical.
So if he changes the sparkplug ... all this will go away?

It is next to impossible to locate a new motor for this, I have tried. All they want to do is sell you the parts to fix the one you have. Even if that includes the head, cylinder and cases.

    Thanks for looking dude!

There isn't much at all. It would seem the only way to get a spare motor, would be to buy all the parts and build it yourself! It'll come together. These motors are precise. Not much room for error, anywhere.

Sell it and buy a Honda. Then you'll be able to keep up with the big kids.

There is a 450 motor on eBay for $2500+ (seems steep?)... but if you're talking about that kinda $$ for a motor, wouldn't it be cheaper / quicker / better to buy another bike, take the motor off it and part it out??

After all, almost any bike is worth more in parts than it is whole.... Just a thought?

Well if Alex buys another Husky and takes the motor out of it, why don't you buy everything else and put in a Yamaha motor or something????

Pete, Keith is a sly devil. He was much faster in the race than he was in practice. I've still got a LOT of work to do to catch up to him. Only reason I was close to him is I've got more motor than he does. He and Joel took off in practice, and I couldn't catch them. Might have been because my bike was about to blow up, but who knows?

ScottieDucati is the man. He's found me all sorts of stuff. Thanks bigtime bro. We motard guys do get off cheap most of the time, but we are basically riding hand grenades.

Highsider, I messed something up on the Husky. This is not the norm. George from uptite racing said he's never had any of his Baja race bikes blow up like this. I must have messed the auto-decompression bit up in a valve adjustment somewhere. Don't let it deter you. Compared to whats out there, they are still just about the best bang for your buck. Plus, I've got all the tools for a complete rebuild now.

I have to admit, the Huskys are the dead-sexiest motard out there. Brembo brakes, Marzocchi forks, and that exhaust....ok, I want one.
