    New bike

Alright, I'm picking up a new to me bike this weekend, it's a 2000 SV650 which I intend to make it a track bike (my first one at that).

My question is, what do you have to do to get it track ready? In other words, what do you have to safety wire? What needs to be taped? How good should tires be? Etc...

Thanks in advance for the help

Personal Protection #1. Handling #2. Horsepower #3. Always stick with that formula. A safe bike would go under rule #1. I put lots of schooling under the #1 and #2 rule.

I like brakes ahead of handling

That is a very good formula, but right now I just want to get the bike track ready.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

Track days are easy, tape over any glass, make sure the oil filter has a clamp or is wired in place somehow, thats about it. All track days are going to be slightly different as far as prep, but its pretty basic.

    Re: New bike

Word... check the bike prep section at the tonystrackdays website and you should be covered for most of the track days you're going to do at Loudon or New Jersey.

Like Richie said, it's pretty easy to get your bike ready for track days... remove or tape over all glass, disable tail lights, put a hose clamp on the filter & wire it so it won't spin loose and you're pretty much done assuming the rest of the bike is in safe operating condition.

Congrats on the new track ride
