    GSXR race plastic connections

Curious how others have attached the upper to the frame? I fit a set of ArmourBodies to an '07 600, and where the mid piece comes back towards the seat the factory plastic attached to a boss on the frame with one of those push-in connections (a plastic tit on the plastic that pushes into a rubber piece in the frame). The only other connections are at the fairing stay, air tube and the connection to the lowers. This rubber connection at the back seems like it really needs to be a solid connection. I really dont want to modify anything permanent as I'd like the street plastic to still be able to use that stock connection at some point.

    Any advice / suggestions?
    Thanks

U don't really use any of the Factory spots other than the Pushpins on the top of the Ram air tubes...Mine have two Dzuh's up top where the tabs are for the ears of the fairing stay and the two pushpins and two holes on either side for the frame sliders to pass and those Hold most of it...other than that nothing and be sure to Align the top good and attach the belly pan when fitting...I went through the same thing with mine..cause if you mount it too high the belly pan with rest on the headers and burn thru...

Pm me if you need pics or Q's.....

Thanks I was hoping to hear from you on this. I am going to take another look at it when I get home and double check there is no header contact.

No problem and even if you want we can get it done before practice if your going to be up there or 25th Bomo track day I will be up too....

Really get the top lined up good mark it and check 3 times cause I have multiple holes ..........and drill away but its just kinda nerve racking looking at it and not having any real places to fasten it up but mine is solid..so don't worry

I use the factory mounts with a long phillips screw. The key is the nylon washer that sits behind the bodywork to keep it pulled away from the frame.

I'm not sure what you mean by "still use the street plastics"... but you should just give up on that now and turn it into a full up race bike. Its inevitable.

I am holding on to the delusion that once I get all the race prep done I'll be willing to swap the street parts back on to street ride now and then. The further along I get the more I realize it's probably never going to happen...I guess I can always ebay those parts to pay for more racing.

I thought like that once about two years ago. I grid next to Kevin with the bike I intended to just do track days on and not race. I kept the street stuff so I could do both. It has yet to even be turned on in the vicinity of the street. Just sell off the street stuff while you can

    what kevin said...

long screw, into front side, long nylon spacer/tube on back side, followed by gient well nut into hole in frame... tighten, and done...

I can help sort you with the parts in McMaster Carr catalog and you can come by moto addiction and have one of the ex GSXR guys, or last straggler gsxr guy help you get it sorted.
