Ok so I have two 2006 model AGV XR-2's
They are snell 2000 rated. If it goes to Snell 2005 I am gonna be pissed!

There is a sticker that indicates when the helmet was manufactured. This is checked in Tech if not snell 2005.
Peeps are getting confused: the snell 2005 lids are easy to see they are not more than five years old. If 2000, then the date sticker is referred to (like mine, it's on the inside under the liner), however, what I have heard through the grapevine is; it may be easier just to go with the snell 2005 indication.

So I can't use my 2006 helmets for 5 years?

FYI: Arai helmet have their 'birthdate' listed on the helmet strap. Mine was constructed 09/02. Ergo it's in the clean until September 07.![]()

In a nutshell.
1.) Helmet can be no more than five years old.
2.) Has to carry Snell, British or Euro certification, but not necessarily most current. (I.E. Snell 2000 is O.K. if less than 5 years old.)
3.) Rider's responsibility to make sure date of manufacture can be found in helmet. If tech can't find one, you're S.O.L.
Reminder to the 125 guys, USCRA still requires Snell 2005 for this coming season, including the purse paying FIM sanctioned race which will be run on June 11, 2007.

Thanks for answering my question. Now I can buy my new helmet.![]()
Actually, LRRS bucked the trend set by USCRA. It woud have been pretty easy to adopt Snell 2005 and blame the vintage guys.
Last year, when both organizations excluded Motards from certain Singles classes, LRRS had other classes they could still run and also started the Motard only class. USCRA effectively banned them altogether.

I know. Most of the USCRA peeps are Fascists!
Thank you. That was totally unexpected, but it meant a lot, especially since I knew Karen. I felt like a deer in the headlights up on stage, and did notice the look of relief on The Don's face when I said, "I'm totally speechless!"![]()

We all spend top dollar on this hobby, some more than others. Some for the Vanity and some for the Safety items.
Why the hell would anyone skip out on a quality helmet to protect your most valuable asset on that track?
I'd rather run used take-offs and bent wheels than wear a less than stellar helmet.
My point being....Buy the best helmet you can afford, without saving for other less important items to do so.

Sean Clarke over at WERA, where the helmet rule is the same as the one we're adopting, said that in talking with the companies, he found out that there was not a significant difference between the 2000 and 2005 standards. They also emphasized that they consider the age of the helmet to be the most critical concern when determining whether a helmet is OK to use or not.
