Good luck. I know Texas has lots of road racing. Its like Charlotte is to Nascar. Your in a great location for it. A hotbed.
So whats the hot setup for these fancy bikes? Im used to dirtbikes. Its already got suspension, bazazz and TC, steering damper, slipper clutch, the usual crap. Anything else Id want to get? And what tires do I want. (track days only for a while)

Yeah... some EFFIN SEAT TIME!
Can the thing be ridden as is? Yes? Well then go ride it!
Black round ones. Whatever is readily available to you.
I like my Pirellis for track day duty cuz they warm up quickly, rarely cold tear and they're not sensitive to heat cycles.

What Pete said. If you're gonna be doing trackdays mainly with one org or at one track, see what vendor will be there, and see what their suggestion is. Dealing wit a trackside vendor might make your life easier.
On that note, the Diablo Supercorsa DOT is a pretty solid choice, lots of guys racing(fast) on them, and lots of guys using them at trackdays and getting good life out of them.I like my Pirellis for track day duty cuz they warm up quickly, rarely cold tear and they're not sensitive to heat cycles.

John I didn't know people were still using the UK NTECs... I thought there weren't many left and most people switched over to the US ones after they improved them last year....?

After trying the UK 212's and the US ones (and listening and comparing notes to others who have tried them as well), I quickly realized I needed to start stocking up on the UK 211's. My hope was that Dunlop would make some changes before I run out. While I think I have enough UK 211 rubber (new as well as take-offs) to get me through this season (plus I have a knack for making tires last pretty long) I don't think Dunlop is going to make many (if any) changes before I run out. So, to get rubber comparable to the UK 211, the other option is to go with the 195/65 UK slick ... but then you're back at the 656mm Dia. mark (and can't run SS races). Last race weekend I took my B bike out for the first time since building it over the winter ... and tested it with some different, "new to me" DOT rubber. I ran times on the B bike comparable to, if not faster than, the A bike on UK 211's, and felt very comfortable doing it. So if nothing changes at Dunlop, I've at least got a Plan B in the works.

For me it really wasn't the turn in so much as it was the drive out ... but I probably should have re-geared when I ran the 200.
Uhm, last year Dunlop recommended going with the US rubber instead of the UK ...
Don't be a sheep ... try stuff out, see what works for you.

I've run the US rubber and the UK, and to me the end up costing the same. I go through twice as many tires on the US rubber as the UK, but they both grip well. Then again, I'm not running 1:12, my PB is 1:20, so I'm not sliding the front and rear through the turns like the guys who are really moving. Are you fast enough to feel that "half second" the UK rubber is supposed to get you?
