So, considering the current financial state of both the wifes and my employment, I may be taking part or all of this season off. It is still to be determined but unfortunately our enrollment numbers dictate my job stability for the upcoming season. Those numbers are due to be out in late April.
I remember hearing about keeping your license current means one race a season. Is this true or can I take a year off and be able to renew next year without having to take Penguin again?

Keeping your number applies to two digit experts, going two years without racing and you lose that number. Three digit numbers you'll keep as long as you're renewing your license.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Not numbers, just looking at keeping the ability to renew my license next year without having to take Penguin again.
Wondering if I can get away with not renewing it this year at all.

When I came back to racing in 2000, Don said that I had to take Penguin again. But, that was because I had been off the racetrack for over 10 years and on the old Loudon track. He told me then that if it had been a few years, then they wouldn't require Penguin again. However, your results may vary.
In that case it's on the license app when you send in for one. You either give your racing history..ie what org and how many years, or a race school taken in the previous 12 months. It would have to be a long break for them to deny you and require you to take the school again. I know Mahhhhhk, is taking penguin again, but If I think that's just his choice. I think he's taken the past 3 years off racing.

I've yet to send a email asking about that. If I can get my license again without taking the Penguin, I'd do it. If I have to take it over again, so be it.
My last active year was 2005. I renewed it for 2006 but didn't enter any races, I think I only entered a couple practice sessions on Friday. I did corner work a lot that same year so maybe that'll count as something![]()
