Ok, Im doing cornerspeed next month and they recommend removing the kickstand. Is it really necessary? Im only doing the advanced group, not the race pace group, but I figure itd be one less thing to worry about dragging, which Im not sure I would anyway.
But if its a good idea to take it off, how would I bypass the switch?
YOu can bypass the switch by disconnecting it at the nearest connecter and putting either a piece of wire in the connecter to complete the circuit or a paperclip works too.
If you are doing this for good then just cut the wires, twist them together, wire nut them and electrical tape them. Its very easy.

Just a couple of thought on this one.
1. You race right? Are you so used to going out on track with no kickstand that there is a chance you will forget to put it up? (it may have a kill switch so this might be a moot point).
2. I have seen them drag and bouce over big bumps. There are a few at Loudon ;-)
C. You may never drag it on normal cornering, but have you ever clipped the curb in 12 cause you messed that section up?
It's 2 bolts. Remove that sucka!

When I did Cornerspeed it was acceptable to zip tie the kickstand up. If its still OK to do its a quick/cheap alternative if you don't have plans to permanently remove the kickstand.
Yessir.
Loudons the only track I've ever been on. I've been dying to get my 636 out and really rip something up. I did penguin on it, but my abilities then versus what Ive learned after a year of racing are MILES apart. I cant wait to beat the living hell out of that bike.
I took my street 636 to VIR and had a blast. I did not remove my kickstand; I just zip tied it.
werd... pull the zip ties JUST tight enough to stay in place when left untouched, but loose enough to be able to slip off the end of the kickstand by hand. That way you dont have to cut em off to put the kickstand down if you need it.
