we have a 07 kx450 do u guys think this would make a good motard? Im not the biggest kawasaki fan but the bike is here so just want some opinions on how it may race
I'm a die hard honda man, but I feel Kawi makes the best dirtbike. Make sure there are parts available, first aftermarket, then replacements at the track or plan to have enough of a stock on your own to bring with you.
i was doing some reserch and it looks like this 07 model is the best 450 kawi has put out it has a 5speed tranny and a bunch of new motor stuff and chassie stuff
I was gonna build one but deals fell thru and I might end up with a crf. I think the 08 is prob better than 07 but the 07 is known for having biggest kick in the pants power delivery

yeah mike and i have talked about that.. he said the 07 would be a good ride for me
Katoom was actually a borrowed bike all season. Mike is so pimp like that.

ya, if anything it seems most parts are available for honda then yamaha then kawi/suzuki behind them for sure. I have heard a few stories and heard that a top new england pro on Kawis was cracking pistons in half in the kxf but for 1, I'm not sure how valid that is across the board and 2, I think if anything you can throw in a piston other than stock (wiseco or something) and be alot better off.

Oh. Yeah, supposedly Treadwell's bikes were pretty sick. A friend of mine was riding at Heman's one day when Treadwell was there. Treadwell's 250F was pulling my buddy's 450 out of corners! And my friend is no slouch on a MX bike (one of the top NESC Amatuers about 8-10 years ago).
geez that is nuts...but like you said the kawis have some strong motors. I was looking at 450 bike from a team in michigan and they said with the motor work it dyno'd 61hp

haha ya I'm not sure, I think it can be done. The bike had full pro-circuit suspension, probably a notch down from full factory so they may have done the motor as well, forget what they said. I think it could be true because a crf 450 I almost bought from the motoxxx team had about 57hp and it was built up to be reliable/not over the top, no high compression piston even. But ya, that kxf quite possibly a ticking bomb.

I hear in the dirt and ice racing and hill climbs that the KXF450 kills. I know 2 guys that were die hard HONDA fans till they got on a KXF. This is strictly dirt and ice though.
I would like to see some KXF's make an appearance at Loudon next season.

or a #399? You dont want a stupid expert on your bikes complaining when its not doing something right. I will be novice and will have great things to say about the bikes motor and handling...![]()
