Doucette lost that race because his superbike blew up out of turn 12 he still finished 2nd.... And a r6 565 is capable of making 110+ hp you can do anything you want to the head/valves/cams.... An I agree is doesn't belong ... Seeing an r6 in group 5 was funny

"The 4 board is an upshift marker, not a brake marker"
I was wondering all weekend how I got passed by what sounded like an I4. This is the answer! I was thinking I must have gotten a phenomenal drive out of 12 to get passed at such a small speed differential on the straight.
You're going to spend a metric-fuckton to get there. It's going to be fragile and VERY high maint. To put it bluntly, for the cost of making a singular 110+ HP LWGP R565 I can make two or three of my ULSB builds, based on importing machines from the UK. Hell, it'd be cheaper to get MY machine past the 110+ HP mark.![]()
i agree with sav, letting them into SS should be a complete violation of the rules. an SV can have minor engine work and still be eligible for the class but detuning, destroking or shutting down a cylinder isnt minor engine work
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

They aren't letting them into SS, they are only LWGP and GTL legal, that's it.
And 40 lights and 50 lights. A MW I4 from 1990-1992 like a Honda 600 F2 or GSXR would also be legal to run 40 lights and 50 lights.
Lightweight Grand Prix or Thunderbike are legal for Lightweight Formula 40.

I didn't think it'd take too long for ol' Grush's hot sender to make it into a forum thread. All words and butthurt aside, it's a cool bike.

I looked at the dyno sheets from one one the destoked R6's at Loudon. 113hp & 48ft-lbs. This is not a LW bike.

They must have figured something new out to un-cork them compared to last year. That said, that's still well in line for Lightweight GP where it's supposed to be the one off nutter builds. If we were talking LWSS I'd agree, but these are supposed to be the built to the nines with no limits other than displacement machines. There are 110+ HP SVs out there, with more torque... Not to mention many of the Ultralight machines can approach those numbers if you like to build to the edge.
Kurlon, you should help me build a true supermono replica. Not sure how we'd get the single cylinder bit happening, but..

Hmm, I hadn't seen that one before. I've seen some home-brewed attempts with mid-1990s 900SS frames and thumpers from dirtbikes. At the opposite end of the spectrum is this: The Supermono Strada for a mere £40,000...
Had the honor of racing against Jerry Wood on his authentic Supermono for many years. There was much controversy about allowing it in the lightweight classes as it seemed far superior. I was fine with it. Not like a bunch of guys were gonna run out and buy them. I understand it's worth 100k now. Jerry ran it at Daytona this year!
I love the fact that he actually takes his rare classics and puts them on the track in anger under a green flag (red spinny lights?).
Without tearing one down to see what makes it tick, part of me thinks the Panagale 1299 would be an awesome candidate. It's already light, it's crazy oversquare... but no idea if it's design lends it to dropping a rod/piston like the venerable Pantah belt jobbers or not.
