Sounded like they wanted to make it a regular thing, but wasn't sure how that would work with the drifters being there every weekend?

They should turn the lower lot into a go cart track like in jersey. Then they could have a mini series to develop young talent like in jersey.

That red section is just half of the go cart track. The part to the bottom right is the other half and it can be used as one big track, too.
Probably pretty easy to put one in at loudon in one of the millions of lots they have.![]()

They might as well, a few more years and NASCAR will have completely checked out of there.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
I think the Classic Sumo event will be an indicator for weather or not the track invests further in the idea. If we get a good turn out AND the crowds come, expect their to be something more permanent down the line. If not, given Canaan and Boxshop are both within short distance I can see NHMS deciding not to be a third wheel in that game.
Depends. In the experience that I have, I'd say they'll strip it and ditch it. Exactly what ISC did to Rockingham a decade ago. Speedway Motorsports may choose a different route, but I expect they'll want very little to do with a small revenue track. On the upside, Rockingham sold for just a few million dollars, it's biggest obstacle after NASCAR left was to have enough revenue generating events to keep the lights on. There were a few smaller series that ran there but nothing was sustainable. Probably the best thing NHMS has going for it after NASCAR departs is the income from LRRS, few other defunct facilities have that.

NHMS has so much potential to be greater than it is. The infrastructure is there to support huge events and massive amount of people for well enough time to run any major motorsport event. Fuck, Montreal hosts F1 without 1/4 the permanent structure that NHMS has. Instead of the track that has NASCAR and some other shit going on. Why not anything else? Look at what Nicky said. People don't want to race there. It's just us the don't have another option and maybe some nihilists that do it. The hard part is done, the site is there, repaving or reconfiguring the road course and giving the rest a face lift is chump change compared to what it takes to create a place like that. A permanent supermoto track and series would be another good investment (and awesome for myself), but it won't bring the clients that a new road course would.
The hard part is zoning and neighbors/noise issues.
The fact that they don't have to worry about either of those because they are an existing race track is huge.
Turn one of the rear lots into an mx track, do a go cart/mini gp track. Keep the drifters coming. Redo the road course to help with car and motorcycle racing. And advertise the shit out of it all!!

Alex G provided an info drop on Facebook, for those who avoid Zuckerberg's money farm:
Security is going to be aware of what's going on, and directing traffic by the tunnel so we should be able to ride sumos from the infield to the sumo pit area and back without excess hassle.
The sumo pit area is a dirt lot. There won't be a track provided tent or generator so we'll need to bring our own shade and electricity. This is the classic, and it's out in the public area so even if security is around, secure things if walking away. Either buddy system, or chain it up, etc.
The bowl PA speakers should cover that area, but if not, the FM transmitter seems to be working this year.

Ah, well, yeah, those are valid complaints. I don't expect an announcer for this event either unfortunately which sucks. The grid calls however should make it through I hope.
