If you're going to enforce a rule across the board, you can't let exceptions.
How do EX riders in all the other clubs which STRICTLY ENFORCE the bellypan rule get by? [/QUOTE
i honestly don't know??![]()
I would like to know why though.
I had a belly pan on the first Ex I raced, ground a hole right through it.
that picture looks familar...Originally posted by OreoGitorio
the problem w/ EX's is that there's not enough ground clearance
note sparks from headers behind the bike
They end up getting holes worn through them. Cracks may not let through much fluid, but holes do.
Now that I raised my rear suspension I may try to put my belly pan back on & see how it goes. But chances are, it'll still hit in the turns 3/4 and 10 transitions.

Adam's right.....it has to be enforced across the board including EX's. I know there is no room on the kawi's, but you can't have exclusions. When I race down in FL, they make everyone have a belly pan. On my CRF, I silicone around the skid plate and they say it's acceptable.
You could always make a belly pan and put pieces of sheetmetal on the sections that scrape.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
yeah. well, if they pass a new rule that we need belly pans, I'll figure something out.
You mean enforce the current rule?

i suppose that would be more accurate
Could you please post some pics of that and what did you do for the back of the skid plate?Originally posted by mmracer37

Right now there is no silicone on it. My skid plate covers the whole bottom of the frame/motor. With the silicone around the entire skid plate, it creates a "belly pan" between the frame rails and the back of the frame. It actually holds quite a bit of fluid too. Granted, if the side of the engine lets go, it's not gonna do a damn thing though.Originally posted by Rick Lee

still better than nothing though...Thanks for the great tp.![]()

Oxx maybe we can come up with an idea like this that will cover the sides a little as well. Let me know.![]()
Oxx
If you are interested in using my Husky for protoyping let me know. I don't live far from you and I was planning on doing something myself this winter anyhow. If I come up with something before you do I will let you know.
Thanks

it's only because it has honda front end, wheels, and an fzr swingarm, and a tzr tail. It's not really a kawasaki, lol
i agree with enforcing it across the board. at least the EXs have a belly pan that you can purchase for it. while you can get them for motards they dont seem widely available. if we are gonna enforce them on EXs then we also need to enforce them on SV, Ducati 800, 900 and Hawks and any other bike that doesnt come stock with a lower. i know that you can get bellypans for EX, SV and Hawks. and im assuming you can get them for the Ducs as well. they just arent enforced. im just trying to make it a little safer out there. Rick... ill probably take you up on that since you are so close. ive also got Heaths 2 bikes. ill probably start close to home first until i get something going. again... i still need a welder![]()
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...
