Turn 1a racers I have an Idea!

This is for the guys that pit over in 1a. Nt650hawk, SMF, stupidhawk, pasta-rocket, Yoomit, Puppet... Tony, Matt and Bob... am I missing anyone?

So there is some interest in pooling our resources and coming under one banner.
MABE seems a little defunct with the loss of Alex to Ducati and the demise of the website... (I hope that get up again)

Ami? Racing is fun but has not really gotten off the ground.

Hobbs Automotive... is that really a team or just a sponsor?

With all that said I think it would be good to come under one banner.

My reasons you ask?
We are pretty much a team already.
We can share resources...
We can share sponsors... Hell I am already listing Hobbs Automotive as a sponsor, Magic Hat might do a little sponsorship next year and it might be better if I came at them with a big team. Other sponsors might do more if they had more exposure....

Hell we already are pretty much a team, we could do a bulk order of T-shirts, get a banner made up... Differ the cost of scanners or speakers or other stuff... (Food....Beer...) Maybe even throw a few bucks together for an end of season bash?

As for a name I was thinking just "1a Racing" or maybe "Vtwin racing" or some such name but Puppet doesn't have a twin. That is definately open to suggestions.

What do you think?

Isnt this similar to the idea of the NESR race team that was proposed here a while ago. The only thing with them was that it was trying to organize the whole group of us on here.

No Alex WAS great... He used to keep the MABE site up and running but then he got a GREAT job with Ducati and just doesn't have time for the little people....

Alex you are still a 1a Racer (will always be until you punk out and go pit in the garages when you come back to LRRS once a year

) and can be a part of this new endeavor.

Even though the Panamanian Prince (Erasmo) is now ruling his country and Alex is promoting for a higher authority Matt, Bob and myself are still flying the HAWK banner for the team MABE Racing. Not trying to isolate anyone here. This originally started as BAM. Then there was Erasmo. Then I got a call from Alex. I was psyched and proud to run with the Hawk flock. I do feel as one in 1A. It's a great feeling. Do I abandon my roots and merge for a bigger cause? OR adopt a conglomerate strategy? OR stick with what is already known MABE?

I kind of liked the Pirelli this year. Michelin last year and Dunlop the year before.

similar reasoning to me getting a team together... so far have a local shop, and hindle... am buying tires with a guy I raced against this year, we both love our dunlops.

Gino.... It is not so much a disbanding of MABE and the Hawk flock, think of it as a Merger of the Hawks. and you gain a couple Ducati's and a bastard child Motard.

MABE/1A Racing could work for a name... The name thing is more for the cool shirts and Banner we could get.

Hobbs... Glad your in! You already "sponsor us" anyway with your Red Bull, sleeping quarters and parts.

With all these peeps wanting to join the madness it is gonna get pretty tight over in 1a... hadn't thought of that.... Ideas here? Maybe a standardized Layout so we kno who and what goes where? We have all winter to plan.

As for tire sponsorship... Would we all HAVE TO run the same tires? maybe a Majority could run X brand and others could run Y...

I was thinking more General sponsors... I am on a different racer board (MX/Road) and keep getting emails from clothing and other peps offering sponsorship...
Magic Hat is a possiblity... Maybe others...

if t1a'ers are really interested in doing this i'd be willing to come up with a site including a forum, but it won't be as nice as alex's mabe site (RIP). i don't do graphic design

btw i don't care what tires i run as long as they're sticky and at a good discount. if it's all about the same price i'd stick with my pirelli slicks. dr smooth has proven them to be good for 19's on a hawk

and i'm not really into wearing team t-shirts, but if it actually helps w/ sponsors then why not.

doc, what site are you referring to? I have had some sponsor offers, but nothing monetary as of yet... im interested in peaking at your other forum to see what's happening over there
