I did my first race weekend and it sucked fucking balls. We were not told anything about this at all and were parked in the same space as we had next to the garage that we had used on Friday for Penguin. So my dad is sleeping in the trailer and I'm in the truck and I get a knock on the window at 11:30 at night saying that I have to move because someone else owns the spot. Had to hook the trailer back up to the truck, get the bike loaded back up again, and get out of the garage area...made for some great sleep the night before my first race. It really made me think twice about racing. All I could think about was the prick in his hummer that wanted us to move out of his spot.

Ohh... It was YOU!Did you just assume you could use a Garage during the race weekend? Without paying? That sucks!
That definately should be posted or given in a handout when you come in the infield... or it should be in the rulebook.
Lots to learn when you are first starting out.

I wasn't using the garage. I was just parked in the space. The bike was between the truck and trailer. And I did not see or hear anything about it. I will look again at the materials that were provided. But I think that is really something that should be vocalized. I would have dealt with it accordingly and happily if we were told that when we first got there...or during the day on Friday.

I did Penguin last year, (July,) and Eric covered that in the AM brief. We were told to use open garages and the spots in front of them until the tenants showed up, or to be out at the end of the day.
It sounded like his usual speech. I guess not everyone listens, kinda like the riders meetings on race day.

I'm late to the party but this probably has to do with the huge lawsuit from a volunteer security guy falling off the back of a golf cart and fucking himself up at a NASCAR race.

Nobody shall operate any motorized vehicle outside of the tunnel/infield area which is
not registered properly to be operated on public roadways unless it has met the
following conditions:
a. Is displaying an NHMS Motorized Vehicle Pass (This pass may be purchased for
the season at the Operations office. The fee for the pass is $20.
b. The owner of the vehicle must be able to provide a certificate of Insurance
coverage in the amount of $1,000,000.
c. The Operator of the vehicle must maintain a valid driver’s license issued by their

Hmmm...
I already rent a garage. I already race several races a weekend. My power is free with the garage...
So there are four differences this year:
1. I have to buy a rubber thing to put over my extension cord (OH NOEZ!!!!)
2. I get free entry into the track.
3. There is now online registration.
4. The track is finally showing more desire to make improvements and deliver on promises. Yeah, they're late. Let's all wallow about how long it took instead of just being happy about it...
So, basically, everything is better.
Stop all the fucking whining just because you have to pay for some shit that you should have had to pay for a long time ago... every other track does. Guess what... RACING MOTORCYCLES IS NOT CHEAP.
You can't leave your busted ass non-road-legal camper somewhere for free? And you think that's unreasonable? That's like being mad that a hotel won't let you keep your own sheets and pillows and toiletries there the 300 days you don't stay there each year.
I do think adding a ton of championship money isn't really going to do anything except for the elite few. That money chould be put toward fostering new racers in some innovative way and getting the grids back up...
Or the CEO inn...
I am a somewhat short man with a nice large trailer, complete with power, I enjoy long walks on the beach, and I have some nice scented candles set up in wall sconces inside said trailer...

the corner workers will be taken care of, just like every other year, you are considered an employee and should be able to ride your pedal bike, but i will find out for sure. The Marshals have a meeting on Sunday and if anyone has any corner working questions that they want clarified then PM me and i will get the answer for you.
Everyone remember that new rules are just words in a book until someone starts enforcing them, why not just see what happens the first weekend...
The corner workers are going to have new rules too, but it is part of life and bitching on a forum isn't going to solve anything.
Anyone looking to save some $ can always offer to corner work, There are very few times that we ever need to turn people away, and workers are usually taken care of for a lot of the fees.
