    So you got jokes. LOL!!!!

Well, it's good to know I can race so now all I have to do is sort out all the info to get the specific classes lined up. Basically, I want to ride in every race I can enter.

In regards to getting your license: when I filled out the paperwork there was a section that asked whether you already had a license, or were going to get cert for a license for 2012. It further asked what date you were doing your race school. I just put in the April Penguin date, filled in the race numbers I would like to have, and wrote a check. I took the basic Penguin class last year, but proceeded to demolish the bike before I had the chance to race, so my cert expired. In april I'll do the advanced class and it's off to the races!!!!

The Penguin cert. is good for a year from the date you took the class... if you didn't do the rookie race last year, you can still do it your first weekend and get licensed. If it has been over a year since you took the basic school, you will have to do it again.

For races, you can do HW Superbike, GTO, and Unlimited Gp. That is based on last year's schedule, and I think they are changing it so there may be more or less classes for you to enter. If the new schedule is anything like last year's, you should be able to do 1 or 2 races each day.

Then I can register and pass tech on Saturday. I can have the wife with blank white plates and fully wired.
You'll be able to register and tech your bike Friday night, after you complete penguin.
I believe the rookie race has been moved back to Saturday for 2012.

Rich, just let me know when it gets closer to the actual date. I will walk you through everything you will need to know.

In all honesty, and I am not saying this to be a dick, you really may want to consider getting a different bike. That 1k is a beast at the best of times and when you factor in the adrenaline that you get from racing (no, track days do not even come close) then bad things can happen a lot quicker than they can on a lower displacement bike. You may be perfectly fine on it, only you can answer that question, for me that is too much bike esp on that track.

Plus if you end up with a 600 or 750 you will have a lot more races available to you. If you only intend on running 1 or 2 a weekend then this may be a moot point.

Anyway, we can talk about this whenever you like and get you all set up for the start of the season =)

Mike, I definitely don't take any advice negatively. I love hearing alternate opinions and welcome them. If I could afford it, I'd have an r6 in the garage. I'd need to sell or trade the big Gix and make it an even transaction for it to happen, but this thing is proving much harder to move than I thought. A saving grace to the bike is the power settings. I don't think I rode in full power except for once this year, when I forgot to switch to B map.

I'll gladly take all the help and guidance I can get when it's time to race!!
Anybody looking to buy a super clean, bonzai GSXR 1000?

    Re: Novice racing question.

as far as being a novice the 1000 isn't gonna give you much competition. the big classes last year in novice typically had 0-2 entries. sure if you get released in the same wave as the MW you'll have others on track to race against but they aren't technically in your race.
