I'm going through the pre-reg on the my.nhms site and have some questions I'm hoping y'all can help me with. This is what pops up when I answer their wizard questions about my bike:
This is the schedule:
From what I gather, my SS SV is eligible for Saturday 6 (NV formula 3) and 9 (Novice formula 2) as well as Sunday 4 (AM/NOV LWSB) and 9 (AM/NOV LWSS).
I see the registration box for Formula 3 and 2, but not the Sunday races. What am I missing?
Also, I understand what "Rookie Race" is, but what is "Rookie 1" (2 and 3)? Similarly, what is "Starter 1" (2 and 3).
Thanks for the help.
ROOKIE 1 STARTER 1 NOVICE 1 ARE THE SAME
ROOKIE 2 STARTER 2 NOVICE 2 ARE THE SAME
ROOKIE 3 STARTER 3 NOVICE 3 SAME
ROOKIE 4 STARTER 4 NOVICE 4 SAME
THERE JUST CALLED DIFFERENT NAMES SO LESS CONFUSION ON SIGNUP
The way I read it, the level 3 races fit lightweight bikes.
So, you'd sign up for rookie 3, formula 3, starter 3.
Formula 3 is your GT race and runs on Saturday as race 6.
Starter 3 runs on Sunday with the Amateur Lightweight Supersport class as what looks like a 3rd wave. (either race 9 or race 3, depending on what weekend it is)
Rookie 3 runs on Sunday with the Amateur Lightweight Superbike class as what looks like a 2nd wave. (either race 4 or 10, depending on what weekend it is)
Ahhhh....so those are all just NV races. You don't have to be a rookie, as in it's your first race, to race the rookies. I'm starting to get it.
Nice outline Chuck. Piece by piece it's coming together. Thanks for that.
I could race formula 2 too, right? That's Saturday 9.
see section 21.11 of the 2012 rule book:
21.11.1 Please see Middleweight Superbike rules in section 20.
This, to me, says the following:
Novice Starter 1, Rookie 1, Formula 1 = Unlimited Supersport/Superbike classes
Novice Starter 2, Rookie 2, Formula 2 = Middleweight Supersport/Superbike classes
Novice Starter 3, Rookie 3, Formula 3 = Lightweight Supersport/Superbike classes
Novice Starter 4, Rookie 4, Formula 4 = Ultra Lightweight Superbike classes
Refer to the motor type, and max CCs. You probably wouldn't want to run Novice 2, as you'd be running against 600cc I4s.
True, but I'm thinking with the novice class it's much more about the man than the machine. Might be good to get as much track time in as possible while still in novice.
Meh, probably best to skip it and stick with my class. I'll play it by ear. Thanks again.
When in doubt, call the Wanda. Seriously, the Wanda solves all.
" In the name of the Spedo, the Tach and the Holy Throttle, Amen. "
I've got to dive through the rule book, at one point there was something in the proposed 2012 rules that outlawed bumping up a class for at least Novice, but I don't remember where in the book it was or if it's still present.

from the www.lrrsracing.com/ website
Novice riders will be allowed to ride up a class in the Novice only races; but will not be allowed to in the Novice and Amateur combined races.
Another note is that Novices can sign up for the Rookie Race in 2012....it's a half price race that is 4 laps long, and you'll serve as the first wave of the race.
