Michelin Competition rec. riders use the Pilot Power street tire as a rain tire over the DOT Pilot Power Race in a wet track situtaion.Originally posted by hardcore
you CAN NOT RACE in the rain with street tires!
ride in the rain--yes,,,,race--no,,,, they are not made for that!!!
The Power street tire has more siping to get rid of water, it heats up quicker and it's silica compound promotes wet-weather traction.

STO has mounted my tires while I wait each time, and has done so quickly. If I needed it quicker, I know I could have let him know that and he would have taken care of it.

1:49's AIN'T RACING !!!
as for the bozo's you're passing who have full rains---they just suck + shouldn't even be on the track!
shit, I finished 5th with a 400cc 4cyl bike barely running on 1 cylinder--how pathetic is that, + yes I was passing people too!

1:49's are nothing to be happy about!
Darrel sucks + I passed him on 1/2 cylinder! EX's are dog ass slow anyhow but in race #9 they are in a class with bigger bikes + can't compete therefore making them backmarkers!
CUDO's to Everyone that actually went out to race in that storm!
Rain Does seperate the men from the boys! Only real men race in the rain!
if you wanna have fun in the rain--use rain tires!
street tires will slip + you will probably crash, which isn't much fun!
Yeah, I was in that race. Until the bike broke down. It was a hell of a learning experience. Getting rains.

Only real men race in the rain!Shit, I can't even ride around turn 2 with one hand off the bars, that terrifies me.
btw: I just read your last 3 or 4 posts in various threads... lol.. crazyman. Thx for the laughs![]()

On a separate note, it was the 3-minute wait in the rain, during which they told us to look out for slick stufff in Turn 1a and 2 that killed me. Sheesh. Not that I was going to go too much faster, though.![]()

Well, I'm happy with my 1:49 on street tires. Pretty comparable to the times of others.
So my 4th place in race #9 the first weekend means I can't compete???????
No, not really. Chad's best lap in the rain this Saturday was in the :49s, and as he pointed out, he got 5th. Since you got 4th the weekend before, you are, by default, a better racer and just in general a finer human being.
Kidding, Mr. Falcone.
Backmarker Dave (staring at a lot of asses - some more than once per race, dammit!)

From my riding experience, rains are the best, but street tires are second to them, and dot race tires are slick. I'd rather run street rubber in the rain than DOT race anyday.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
ya that's kinda a given!Originally posted by hessogood

obviously street tires are made to also ride in rain along with dry conditions where dot race are for dry w/a possible damp situation
derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
derrrrr!
We're also putting up this sign at the track on rainy days. Because we know anyone who races motorcycles can't be that bright....

1st lap of that race I blistered off a record pace rain lap (almost) + came into 12 to get the red flag, when I turned + looked behind me, there wasn't even another bike in site! I go down pit road + my bike stalls. I get it to refire but it felt like it was running on 1 cylinder. I reran that entire fuckin race like that + finished 5th. That's why I'm pissed. If my bike ran I woulda easily won the race, collected some cont. money from Deb, + broke into the high 1:29's or low 1:30's
for you + anyone else that mighta been a bit disgruntled about what I said-------------LISTEN UP !!!!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by mcbgti

sorry!
It's still a sore subject + I shouldn't have blasted anyone for their lap times or positions. As I said before, anyone out there in the rain deserves CUDO's!
now ya may never hear me apologize again so..................fuck off!
+ Alex, you still suk![]()

you fucktard!
Sorry for an old bump, but I just picked up a rear Michelin Pilot Race s2(160/60-17). I can't find out too much info on this tire, is it a decent one? Would I be ok running it this weekend? It was kind of an impulse buy, but for $85 I had to.
That tire never made Michelin's official race catalog for the Race Two series.
It was put in production for the SV650, a bike which is fairly easy on tires and could really benefit from a soft compound DOT.
Being an S2, it is a soft tire. However, the S2 series was a great run of tires and this one will serve you well.
If I could get more, I could still sell them!
