Here's my 2 cents.

I had a huge, tumbling crash exiting the bowl. Ended up breaking just about every rib on my left side. I think the doc counted something like 10 breaks over 6 ribs (yep... some were broken front and back)

Anyway... as you might expect... that was a painful recovery.

After that, I needed new leathers (ER nurses cut them off)... so decided to look into better protection at the same time.

I ended up with something pretty close to this. Protective Vest

I had the leathers specially fitted... need to add about 5 inches circumference to your suit.

I crashed two times after that. I bruised a rib in one of the crashes... and I'm convinced it would have been worse without the vest.

They cost under $200 and my theory is you can't have enough protection.

Tony, how do you think this armour would compare to the Bohn Pro Racer I was about to order?
Do you run just this amour under your leathers. I'm going to have to remove the spine pad on my suit to get any additional area protection .

I don't know about the Bohn product. Does it cover front, sides and back?

FWIW, I added the Dainese hard plastic shells to my Phoenix jacket, so on my spine I had the hard and soft protection.

On sides and front, I just had the "soft protection".

I actually ended up selling my protector and will be looking at getting another one. Unfortunately, I need to wait until I lose some weight before I will fit in my leathers with another vest.
