Anyone ever try a roadrace hillclimb event. I knew these were popular sports car events in NE but just found out several in NE have Bike divisions. Burk and Okemo Mt events at hillclimb.org seem welcome bikes. Found this info from MAXBWM newsletters, seems they are the bulk of participants of these events. The pics and video on their newletter was much better than what I found on their website.
Anywho, looked very cool and thought I would see if any of you folks had tried or might want to.
I work right next to the starting line of that race at Okemo, have worked 2 years in a row watching them do the hillclimb and I have never seen a single bike.

I did it once in my car, and wont do it again in my car, and wouldnt do it on a bike.
Its basically a tarmac rally sprint. Narrow course, with trees 6" from the pavement in some spots.
Lots of videos on youtube under MAXBMW hillclimb, even some from okemo 2009- Again, I've never been but again seems like fun. Closed road with no speed limit. And yes, your fucked if you crash.
Out of the 50 cars there on the weekend I went, 5+ must have crashed pretty good
thats like 10%....
I don't think any bikes crashed... maybe one? I dont think so though
I did one years ago with a borrowed car. I did the Mt. Philo event in a Yugo with a Volvo engine. There were a few other sites around Vermont. Okemo and Bolton were a couple of the others. Pretty balsy racing like Xrocket said, especially for a timed event.

The consequences were just too high for my blood
I hit 120 on the straight, through the woods...
I have a half cage, but hitting a tree head on isnt the same as a wall to the side....
How much was the entry? And when is it?

Sort of.
See, there's nothing in the rules or classifications for racing bikes. My understanding is that those that race bikes are covered under Max Stratton's (owner of Max BMW) insurance policy and not necessarily racing with NEHA (New England Hillclimb Association) although NEHA still posts the results.
Your best bet for more info would be to call Max.

PS. I'm not sure if they're running the same start/finish lines, but my best time at Okemo was a 2.39.XX from ~6 years ago. Buy you a sixer if you beat it.![]()
I'll take that 6'er....

my best was 2:25...
I believe the weekend after laconia is mt washington. I ran into a guy with an old dirt car that he races up there. He said you race at 9/10's of your ability, the last 1/10 hopefully keeps you alive when things go wrong !
Mt. Equinox is August 13th and 14th, antique race autos only.
This is not a NEHA sanctioned event.
Mt. Philo is the traditional fall run, but NEHA doesn't have details posted yet:

car clubs pulled the plug on bikes at Ascutney, but Jimi H still showed up and somehow he got to run, this year..
Mt. Washington is a definite NO BIKES, plus cars need cages and HANS, no exceptions, what I heard, may just be a particular club or weekend/event, dunno.
Philo isn't a bike option either, I was told.
xrocket21, what vehicle was that time for? Was it Okemo? That's moving, and it would have taken 1st for bikes this weekend.

this was my sti and it was at okemo. Its my daily driver, but its far from stock with 440 wheel hp and I was running race tires. I only have a 4 point cage so I was subject to the break out time of I believe 2:30. I drove hard then let up at the top most runs, but you get 1 warning before they boot you, so I "dropped the hammer, harry" for a run and ran a 2:25 and took my warning. fastest of the day was around 2:15.
Got a new turbo on the way which should bump me another 40 hp![]()
id do it on my SV....
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Washington is not in the same umbrella as the NEHA races... it was brought back this year (after a 10 year hiatus) by Vermont Sports Car and was run by them. To race you needed to submit an application and be accepted... full cages and safety equipment. Havent heard about it returning next year yet, but most people are hoping.
The NEHA events, you don't need full cage unless you hit the breakout time that XRocket made comment of... so you could pretty much run any car that is in good mechanical shape.
Not too familar with the details for bikes, but have been toying with the idea of trying one.
