I’ll start with Tuesday…..
Went to Dyno Solutions to get the bike Dyno’d….John does the first set of pulls…Shuts the bike off and says we have a problem….55 HP. That’s not good! So he start poking around and finds I have a throttle tube issue. He takes out the air grinder and goes to work….Starts the next set of pulls…68.5 HP!! Yeay!!! I drive it back to Keith’s house to get it ready for Loudon transport. Keith does some math – between my weight loss and the new power, I gained 23 HP from last season!!! Now I REALLY psyched for the weekend!
Saturday
I wake up early to put on some new rubber….I end up missing the first session which was fine since they cut the length of the sessions down to 8 minutes…
2nd Practice
So now I’m PSHYCHED to get out there! I feel better than ever getting on the bike….first couple laps I took it slower since these were my first laps since last season at Loudon….I do my first hot lap and I’m all over the place. I had changed sprockets so my shift points were all different, the power difference was EXTREMELY noticeable and I was able to move around the bike too easily! So easily, when I flopped from 12 to 12a, I ALMOST flung myself off the inside of the bike!!! It must’ve looked so funny! My right leg came up off the bike and the bike got all squirley!!!
LWGP
This is the only race Novice’s (SV’s) are allowed to run on Sat….I grid up last since I missed the April weekend….Flag drops and I start moving….for the first time in my racing career, I was not last! I end up going into turn 1 9th….I knew our very own Bill Coolahan was the fastest of the group, so I didn’t want to lose sight of him….I put my head down and start moving! I passed my first rider going down the chute in 3, the second on the brakes in 3, the next going up the hill in 4, then finally the next in 9! After lap 1, I end up in 5th….by this time though, Bill and Brady have checked out…..So now I’m just trying to catch up….Next couple laps, I caught up to the next rider and ended up taking him on the inside of 1…THAT was a rush! I see the 3rd place bike of Bruce Marshall up ahead….I NEED to catch him! It took me a couple laps, but I finally ended up overtaking him going into 1 again! Then we played cat and mouse for the next few laps….White flag comes out and I THOUGHT I put a gap on Bruce since I couldn’t hear him anymore….I botched the downshift going into 11 which killed my drive through 12 and 12a….Next thing you know, as I’m passing the finish line:
THAT was by far the funnest race I’ve ever been in! Took 3rd with a new PB of 1:29.0!
The best part was, Bruce came over to me after the race, introduced himself and said how much fun that was! We chatted for a while and will continue or battles in June!
Sunday
It POURED!!!! No rains, no race…..
Big thanks to my RSP teammates for the help and encouragement! Thanks to all of our sponsors: Tony's Track Days, Sportbike Track Gear, Northern New England Appraisal, Street and Comp and MTag-Pirelli!!! I have to say special thanks to John at DYNO SOLUTIONS for fixing my HP and giving me a SMOOTH motor!!!

29.9 with consistant 31's...This time around was consistant low 30's with 2 in the low 29's....Once I figure out my shift points again, I should pick up time....I was still trying some things (that didn't work lol)
Yea, I heard my jacket was a very large parachute going down the straight!![]()
Good job Jay! That's an awesome picture!

"The 4 board is an upshift marker, not a brake marker"
Cool, man. Yeah, with changes that big to the bike, it'll definitely throw ya off.
Here are my shift points... they seem to work pretty well. If you can get it close to this you should see your times drop:
Up to 5th on the front straight
1 downshift approaching turn 1 (4th)
1 downshift approaching turn 3 (3rd)
1 upshift exiting turn 4 (4th)
1 downshift approaching the bowl (3rd)
1 upshift approaching the turn 6 grandstands (4th)
1 downshift approaching turn 11 (3rd)
2 upshifts on the front straight (5th)
