I have a certificate expiring this month. It turns out it needs to be spent before it expires because RTS doesn't bank them. If I buy the tires from them, will RTS be able to mount them up at the track in April?

Yes as he is a Part of RTS....Steve will even mount crap if you want. He is a good dude and great to deal with as you know

Well what I meant was mount it for free. I know he'll mount it for $15/wheel but if I'm paying for shipping from RTS and mounting, then I'd essentially be paying full price for a set of tires to keep through the winter.
LRRS 878 Clapped out Gixxah
Yes.....he will do it for free i am almost sure. Seeing as you did buy it through RTS

Oh Jesus Christ. Just let them expire if you're worried about it.

He might do for you as a favor but he is not making any money since you are buying direct from RTS. So he would be doing it for free. You don't work for free neither does he. He will probably do for you since you buy a shit load of tires every season

How much is a set of 212's at the track?
LRRS 878 Clapped out Gixxah
I'm looking at my CC statement and it shows $468 for a set of 212's. Does that sound right?

Correct. Fuck it. I'll buy 'em.
LRRS 878 Clapped out Gixxah
Good idea. I'm not sure why you even debated this... Assuming you won these, and didn't buy them, you are getting something you need FOR FREE and you don't want to pay shipping...? The other option is to let them expire and then you get NOTHING and then you have to buy them in 4 months... so... take your pick buddy haha

Steve is the trackside rep for rts, so it didn't matter if you buy them at the track our have them shipped, your still buying your tires from rts and he will mount them at the track for free. They charge for mounting tires not bought from rts.
And yes... Steve is a super cool and very helpful trackside vendor.

I should have clarified that the certificate is only for $50 bucks.
Price from RTS online: $479 + $28 (shipping) + $30 (mounting) - $50 (certificate) = $487 Total
Price from RTS at the track: $468 on my CC statement but I can't remember if that was with certs.
Total slow brain moment on my part. And the guys at RTS can't put me through to him.
It's only a few bucks but I just don't want a set of tires sitting around all winter unless I'm actually coming out ahead.
LRRS 878 Clapped out Gixxah
Why use the cert towards a full set? Just buy a front with it. Cheaper shipping. Then at the start of the season buy a rear from Steve and ask if he'll just mount the front left from last season too. If you're buying something from him, he's likely to do it for ya. If he does, pitch in a few bucks towards some coffee for the mounting guys. Win win for everybody.![]()

I sold for under face value... and obvs I wouldn't have sold them if I didn't have to stop racing.
Ahh well that is a slightly different story. Since mounting will be free, you're saving 22 bucks. I guess you need to decide from a time-value-of-money perspective if saving 22 bucks now and having to spend the rest versus buying full price in april makes sense for you, especially if you are going to put these on a credit card. I guess for me it probably wouldn't make sense.
I have asked and gotten dunlop to re-issue one cert once... call them and claim ignorance and ask them to re-issue with an expiration date past the date of the first round. They'll do it once for you usually.
That's a good idea too...
