My comments in the "under the knife" thread... Just curious who is less enthused for round 3 now.
I can totally dig the guys who are excited for somethi a little different than the same ol' track over and over, but a race weekend is VERY expensive for me to commit to when I don't think it'd be safe to compete at the same level. From the video, and the concept of sending people around a banked chicane at high speeds just doesn't do it for me. Whether I attend, race, or stay home... I wish anyone who races a safe and successful weekend!
I may possibly attend to cornerwork, but we'll see... If anyone can bring Dan his caliper from this area (maybe I can meet you with it jamie) that'd be awesome.
I'm already kinda preoccupied since I need to leave early sunday and drive to NY for work but I am looking forward to it. In addition to that,
1 I am on a 450
2 I'm in novice
3 I have been getting good starts, I'd prefer to be first through there than side by side

Less than enthused but still going to ride my ass off and scare the shit out of myself in the process.
Read the rest of the other thread. It's going to be setup completely different for modern bike racing.
If we can get it setup for Thurs. open practice, I'll see if I can get pictures posted. If not, I'll have pictures posted by Friday morning.

I'm pumped.

I am not racing this weekend, but for other reasons. My wife is overseas so that makes me Mr. Mom this round. I will bring Elisa up and watch you that do race give the long turn 1 a try.
However if that wasn't the case I would most likely race. I raced the tight turn 10 before and the change was interesting, so why not long turn 1.

Oh kitt... Come on you'll be fine... (Kitt hates change)
I'm not racing this weekend (because of work/$/tires/etc) and I'm one of the most sinical bastards on here... But I really think the change will be both fun and safe.
I bet you gents will like it
I need the practice, Already missed the last Weekend. Just one race per-day

Only thing I REALLY dont like is we wont be able to compare lap times. And at this time in my motarding career I REALLY need laptimes.
And since my bike is nice and slow, I'm 1000% sure itll be safe, but if its not, I wont run.
I'm too new to know any better either way. I've got one weekend under my belt, so it's not like I'm 100% dialed on the track the old way. The main disappointment to me will be not knowing how the times stack up. I ran my PB at the end of last event weekend on a smoked clutch, and was looking forward to seeing how much better I could do with the clutch fixed. With a different track layout it’ll be comparing apples to oranges. I could run the exact same time and be faster, I won’t really know. That said, the rest of the track will still be the same, and I certainly need the practice. I’m not too concerned about hitting the air fence, since I ride an EX I shouldn’t be getting in there too hot regardless. I am a bit concerned about the cones and being able to tell where the line is, I’m hoping the cones are placed pretty close together. Whatever, I’ll ride it regardless. If I don’t think I’m safe coming into turn 1 at a certain speed I’ll just brake harder/earlier. I can understand those of you competing on a somewhat (or very) serious level not thinking like that, but I’m still at the point where track time is track time.
i think jeff was getting worried of his lap record going down this weekend with his bro and shane doin 11 flats... sooo hmmm..... hahah
It has me wondering too whether this is a sign that I should be focusing on other things (like work & and saving some $$$) instead of racing this weekend.
You claim to be one of the most cynical bastards on here . . . and yet say the change will be both "fun and safe"? Blasphemy!!! You are an optimist in in a cynic's clothing, sir!!!

I'm on the fence. I got things lined up so I could make one more weekend, I know I can squeeze a bump to yellow plates if I can drop my times... and we find out the track layout will be different so my times won't matter... meaning red numbers on white plates for the classic, I won't make my goal this year. So now do I use the cash to instead re-shoe my Duc and play hookey from work Monday running with Penguin and all the Ducatistas? I could try and do a panic evening wrench session to revive my 70 for the mini motard race in the back parking lot Sunday... Or do I take my wife's advice and just run the weekend and have fun despite not making my goal?
Damnit, I'm putting way to much thought into racing again... : )
All of the above.
Put on your poker face and go all in.

ya I was wondering that, I guess they'll take index into account this weekend rather than index/laptimes?![]()

Get out there and ride the piss out of it!
Due to the nature of the sport we only get to ride a limited amount of tracks and configurations... enjoy the new challenge! They aren't in the business of getting people hurt. I'm sure the track will be fun, challenging, and as safe as they can possibly make it.
that's how I feel...
Denno - I talked to some people who know and trust Eric to make a safe re-route, which makes me feel better about it, but the set-up in the video (which is apparently not staying that way) is definitely not safe for competitive racing on modern bikes.
This thread is good though, I will go if I feel it's safe, not because I think I'm obligated. I'd prefer not to miss a weekend, because at my times, I need to save my "throw away weekend" for potential DNF's if I want to do well at all (right now sitting in top 10 in 3 of the 4 championships I am following).
Hopefully, somebody can shed some light on the configuration before the weekend, as I hadn't planned on making friday practice.
OK, folks. Here's the scoop on what's going to happen. The track has even cancelled car open practice to make sure this change is all set for motorcycle racing.
Next time you see Bette or Wanda, make sure you let 'em know they ROCK !! Remember, their always looking out for you.
Paul,
Eric will be here Thursday to do the set-up prior to motorcycles going on track.
Also, CARS are cancelled for tomorrow morning. We wanted the track cleared for set-up.
We will not run anything on track tomorrow until 1:00 pm.
