you guys would run that many heat cycles ?? with no problems
I've seen tires go a full season on a motard pretty easy. Run 'em until you feel them go off.
Moved.
There are no "heat" cycles on an ex 500.
Your 600: 120's should be about 2 race weekends with practice. 18's to 15's about one race weekend; 14's and below, about one day.

Did i post this in the wrong area??

Let's see... Mid 30's on a GSXR600 is slow... You have done 1 day of practice, 1 race weekend with 2 races and a trackday. I think you have a TON of use left in those tires. At LEAST until the end of the season. I don't think one more trackday is going to be a problem. I see no reason to "flip" the tire and run it backward.

Plenty of racers flip tires. Just don't do it in the rain.
Your next level will be take off's. nothing to worry about now.

What does flipping tires do? You plan on rewinding some of those track miles?
Yeah, not for me.
Ya i am not fast, that i know that's kinda why i was interested in what you guys thought about how much time i could ( from a new set ) till i had to start to worry.
I started last season on an ex500 an did like 4 weekend's on that bike. Then picked up the 600 and did a couple of weekends on that with a set pilot power 2 CT's. I used those till i hit the 24's . Then put on a set of 209's last year for the last weekend that i was able to do.
Then went to jersey in OCT and early NOV thats when i took a shitter ( broken ankel )
Now i am back trying to get my grove back. Sorry for the back ground, just trying not to get to beat up ( being a newbie and all ) . thanks for your help guys!!

It really depends on the tire. Some tires actually go faster when flipped. Some brands also say its fine to do while others say its not. I think the Michelins are good to flip if I remember correctly. I dont think the Dunlops work well. Either way I havent tried it myself.
As a relatively new guy riding a 600, try to minimize the little worries. There's enough stuff to worry about, in the meat grinder class, without thinking about tires.
Hell, there's a couple of brain dead doood's here that punt people of the track for no good reason. ( well, they have reasons, they just may not be good ones )
More experienced people do the tire management with flipping thing. If you don't know the limits and benefits, stick to new or take offs.

I didn't realize how much my bike was moving around on me till i threw a good set race tire's on .
I guess Alot of guys flip tire's . Heard different opinions from alot of people just a little Leary about the whole thing , but i guess i wont know till i try.
I hear the belts tend to "settle" within the carcass and when you flip a tire it can cause issues with the tire structure.
As far as how many people flip their tires at Loudon, this would be the first case I've heard of, FWIW.
If you're already leary about it, then why go out racing with that on your mind?
Well my plan was to hit the practice in july before the race weekend, get thru those and throw on a new set after that.
So I'll hit the weekend with a good set.
I just didn't want to be more than 75% threw a new set when the weekend came around.
My plan is ( tentatively) 7-15 Wed bostonmoto, thurs, fri, practice and then the races.
