Going between different tire brands without changing geometry

Has anyone ever gone from Dunlops to Pirellis or Michelins to Dunlops without making ride height or geometry changes? If so, any words of wisdom?

I'm sure there is, but are you fast enough to notice them? I switched from Michelin to Pirelli early enough into my rookie season and couldn't tell a difference based on inexperience. I also have never had my bike measured and set so it could be off in the first place. Switching may have made it better, may have made it worse.

I think a lot of people, especially the casual street rider, blow it out of proportion that you NEED your bike to be fully re-adjusted if you switch tire makes. For the consistent riders that have their suspensions measured and dialed, surely. For the mediocre riders with a refreshed suspension but no measurements except sag set, such as myself, it will be a feel type thing. For the new track riders and casual street riders, they're full of it.

Just my .02, feel free to flame away.

I agree. If you are a top racer and have everything set up perfect - then you might notice the slight changes in a negative way.

For anyone else, I would suggest riding the new tires with an open mind. You never know - the new tires might actually be closer to the optimum setup and immediately feel better.

If it feels worse, however, your tire guy should be able to point you in the right direction to start making changes to get back to where you were - and then hopefully start improving.

I switched from a 180/55 Conti to a 190/60 Dunlop without adjusting the rear height. It made me swing wide coming out of corners. Talked to Kate's & he had me do 1 rotation on the adjuster nut. Felt fine after.
