Is there anywhere that I can find the track layout outlined with all the turns? And even better is there any outlines with "optimal" riding lines drawn in?
I remember in a track day classroom session they had this up on a big washboard showing what lines you want to use in the turns.
I'm really unfamiliar with the track.
I tried finding my own optimal lines last fall and that just landed me in the back of an ambulance....which sucked.
I'm gonna be doing Penguin and know they teach you alot, but I'd like to look over the track layout ahead of time and research it a little.
Thanks and I know this is such a weak rookie question

The best thing you could do is follow an instructor around the track. I think it would be hard to read a map and put the drawing to memory and translate it to actual places on the track while you're riding.
If I ever figure out how to upload and host the video's I made at yesterday's trackday with my onboard camera, you can see what line I take. I do feel that I do a pretty good job of staying on the racing line.
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?
I can do 100 times better for you. be back in one minute!
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
watch this until you puke, then watch it some more

Very nice. I'll have to show that to Jim Hanlen(sp). He works at a local Honda/Suzuki shop and was riding there on Wednesday.

Hi Chris,

Here's a track map:
NHIS MAP
Maybe this helps.
Don't mind those white and green lines in the first pic. That's showing the difference between the 'normal' infield (white line) and the 'modified' infield they run sometimes, like last Sept (green line)

That video is pretty damn good. The counter on my video player says those guys are doing about 85 second laps.

My two cents is worth a whole dollar!
85 sounds close. I think he normally runs between 18-20

Cool Thanks Guys!
Jay, I got that video to work amd its pretty cool and helpful to see where and how they are setting up for each turn.

Hahahaha! It looks like we need a rookie racer militia. Pulling pranks on rookies is just evil. We're stressed enough as it is!Originally posted by Nazo

Dude, that's not fucking funny. We trust our lives to those motorcycles. Which is why we maintain them in top mechanical condition. Except when pieces of them fall off in turn three at VIR.Originally posted by SVRACER01
