I started on a 600, and hated it. Mostly because I am a twin guy. I am not a fan of the inline. But, if you are completely comfortable with the current bike... rock it.

Unless you are sure you will be all in then pop your cherry on the bike you have. If you have big balls and deep pockets stay with the 6hunny.
.
I went the SV route and don't regret it one bit. The guys that race the LW classes are cool cats. You can do some things to make the SV fit you or just live with it. Mine is a torture device but works well.
The older I get the Faster I wuz
Can I take the Penguin class friday and be able to compete that Saturday? Looks like I'm going to be prepping my current bike while I have it and make the last 2 rounds of LRRS for some races and see how the wallet goes.
I bought the bike as it sits last fall for a steal but have always been a v-twin man but got ancy and settled for a 600.
Motard does seem like something I'd entertain. How do they compare to light weight and 60ps in regards to season costs? I just want to see how broke I'll be come next fall.
Is it a drastic change to body positioning or muscle memory with the motards? Any where to lool for a used motard setup? I don't see many on the WERA forums or Craigslist
Yes to taking class on Friday, then racing that weekend.
Body position between a 600 and a motard are drastically different as are braking points.
I did the track day to race on a 600 (it was older than yours). You'll spend as much on suspension bits for the 600 as you can buy a gen 1 SV for. Racing the 600 will also be more expensive than the SV.
Many people recommend the SV to me before I started. I should have listened, but MW isn't the end of the world either.
Motard takes money to set up properly and if the motor isn't built properly it goes boom. I'll be there in September. Come find me and I'll introduce you to the tards.
