From a press release issued by Good Press on behalf of Pirelli:
Rome, Georgia: Pirelli is pleased to announce its revised 2008 road racing contingency program, designed to better benefit a broader range of racers. For nearly every road racing series in the United States, payouts will now cover all finishers from first through fifth. This program of shorter sticks and bigger carrots widens the grid of opportunity for all racers, reducing racing costs for more riders.
Realizing that racers finishing fourth and fifth needed an improved contingency scale, Pirelli has spread its awards more evenly across the top five finishing positions, in expert and novice classes, in all of the series in which it regularly posts contingency. This new payout structure replaces Pirelli’s previously posted contingency program, giving more riders the double rewards of top-finishing tires plus broad performance earnings.
This new contingency structure is effective immediately and is posted on the Pirelli website: PIRELLI - Pirelli Tyre Moto.
more racers = less payout for 1st-3rd
