I wonder how much cash you have pump into one of these scooters to make them go around the track like that.....

I am a bit surprised that the performance difference between the 600cc Yamaha twin and the 70cc Piaggio 2 stroke single is that small. 2 seconds/lap, 100/85 mph top speeds. Quicker braking and cornering speeds with the little Piaggio... Etc.. Too bad we will not get the Piaggio here. It must be a hoot to ride. In the mean time we have to stick to wedging 80cc YZ motors into YSR's.

haha, looks goofy. Wonder what the appeal to tracking a scooter is? Small wheels, relatively low power, relatively higher weight (?) -

Doesn't take much really, my RS50 has about a a grand into it and can do 70 pretty easily with the right gearing. And that's with a 300lb gorilla riding it. Haven't been on it since I've been losing weight so it should be faster now. 70cc kit, carb, exhaust, reed box with cf reeds, stiffer front springs and oil, sheilded (not sealed) wheel bearings, tach and speedo drive removed, premix w/oil pump removed, no battery. The long term plan (on hold now since I'm back in CT and have no where to track it anymore) was to replace the engine cradle, subframe, and several frame crossmembers with aluminum if not cf tubing to reduce weight. Step 2 was going to be a trellis swingarm built from cf tubing since the stocker is steel and heavy as fuck. I figure all that should bring the weight down at least a good 30-40 lbs (bike weighs roughly 250 now). If I were going to race it I'd go with an 80cc bbk and a race crank that was all nice and filled in but at that point you start having issues with the gearbox not being able to handle to load.

For reference here's an old video at a private track I used to ride in MT (anyone on the "other" forum has already seen this). This was back before I figure out how to properly maintain momentum on the bike and weighed a good 30lbs more than I do now. At the time I was trying to hold the same lines as bigger bikes and was losing a lot of time because of it. When i left the state I was turning 0:56 laps consistently with a couple corners that I still hadn't found the perfect line through.

    I'd so race that.

*looks at my avatar*.... I guess that's kind of a given though.

Those engines sound just like generic rock music.
