    Tire questions.

I am cosidering buying a set of motard wheels that will fit my YZ but I am not going to bother if I can't get a decent set of tires. Are there any sticky tires that will fit this wheel size? I am having trouble trying to find some. The rear is 18"x4.5 with a 140/60-18. The front is a 17"x3.0 with a 120/70-17.

    Thanks,
    Nathan

Front is no problem. No-one sells a 140 rear as far as I know and definitely not in a 18" rim size.

    sorry.

    Re: Tire questions.

Bridgestone offers a 150/60R18 in their BT-090 series. It's a DOT race tire sized for 4.0 to 4.5 inch wide rear rims.

Avon may have something as well, I know guys on 16" rims rely on them for decently sticky rubber?

    Thanks for the quick response.
    Does anybody make a 150 or a 160 in an 18?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

see above post LOL :-) Looks like you can buy a tire from bridgestone for a 18' rear.

I didn't say that in my original post because I saw that you asked for STICKY rubber.

    Oh yeah, I went there!

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Jay, the only reason I was considering these wheels is because they are cheap. I am trying to weigh out my options.

    Thanks,
    Nathan

I think you'll end up going through more money and hassel looking for tires to fit them. I raced on takeoff tires from the dunlop garage all last year. They're 17's that come off SVs. If you take that route you'll save yourself about $400 per set of tires you run through, with no headaches.

    Re: Tire questions.

Anyone care to comment what that might do to the geometry/ how the bike would handle the track (im assuming this is your intended use)? I know even the profile change on a 165 slick is enough to make a difference, Im assuming a larger rim would be noticable.

    Re: Tire questions.

Sort of. I'll buy a new set and when they are done for the SV they will go on the CRF.

I have a few sets in the basement if you want a set. I have so many tires it's not even funny.
