See if this works
The older I get the Faster I wuz
Once again considering getting a dirty bike, interested in flat track, anyone have info on classes, schedule, etc? Couldn't find much information anywhere, what do most run for bikes, flat track tires vs knobbies, and so on?
Just bookmarked the wvrclub site, but prolly can't do anything with it until next season. I have an XR100, but being pretty new to dirt anything, I've just ridden around the yard with it so far...the Family Day looks like a lot of fun. Unfortunately can't do the Saturday one in Oct, I can only do Sundays...still, bookmarked for next year...looks like a blast!

There are quite a few family days happening that haven't been updated in the calendar. Most days where you see Saturday racing, they'll do a fun day on Sunday.
For your XR100, get a set of Bridgestones Trail Wings. You'll want a TW39 front and TW40 rear.

Check out their website and give Roger a call. Lots of dates being added to the calendar.
There's a 160cc or less class, it excludes CRF150R's though. Bike of choice in that class is overwhelmingly the XR100, there's some TTR 125's and that ilk running as well. I don't have much info on the big bike classes, but they're running plenty of those as well.

In that case, that could work...I'll pick up a set of the Bridgestones, too, the ones on the bike now are junk anyway.
So in a nutshell, "fun days" are just ride around to your heart's content, or is there a format, etc.? I'm very new to the dirt thing, picked up a cheap XR to toss around in the yard to have fun with when not doing trackdays, just to get comfortable slipping and sliding around, but I haven't been on it a whole lot yet. The XR is totally stock at this point.
Thanks for any help/suggestions, I appreciate it!

Stock is fine, just a set of tires and you'll be in good shape. The fun day format is pretty lose. For the most part its just open track and you can ride as much as you want. Usually a couple of times a day a handful of big bikes get on track and we usually clear out our small bikes and let those guys have at it. About every 2 hours the drag the track and just before they have a TT course we run for about 20 minutes. It's a hell of a good time a stupid cheap.

Twist my arm. Tires are on their way. I'll give wvrc a shout and see when the next Sunday fun day will be...

Lets say one hypothetically had a suitable playbike. Say a CRF150F or TTR125. What is the preferred tire of choice for playing at WVRC open play-days? BT45's?
Doesn't matter, it all works. Experts on knobbies and chumps on fancy tires. It all works, it's a fun play day.

So "anydamnedthing". Just buy the damned bike and show up.
Got it. Thanks.
I really want to try this out. I have a KTM 350EXC. Thought on what to do to get it flat track capable? Or do I just look for a clapped out 450 somewhere and make that into a flat track/ice racer?
Send cash... I need a track day
