Well I am home from my race weekend. I went up there thursday during the day for open practice and have to say Thursday is by far the best deal on track time I have found so far. 100 dollars for 4 hours of track time. Two groups so you never are waiting longer than 20 minutes.
I did my runs on thursday and felt like I was making progress with my speed and cornering. Just when I was really getting into the groove of the track and the bike open practice was over.
Chilled in the infield on thurday night and as soon as the sun went down it got cold really fast. Ended up meeting up with some other racers from connecticut and ny who were burning a fire. Good time up until about 12 oclock when I turned in.
Did I mention that it was about 30 degrees up there thursday night and I was sleeping in a tent. Definitely not the best time Ive ever had. Froze my nuts off and ended up changing and wearing all the clothes I brought with me so I could kind of stay warm.
Friday morning and I was ready for some riding. The wait until 2:30 was killing me it seems like it was taking forever and I just wanted to get out there and ride.
Finally my time to ride came and I was ready to go. During the first lap I felt like I was picking up where I left off yesterday I was making good speed and good lines. I got through one lap and the got stuck behind a slow rider going into turn 1. Couldnt pass in 1A so I decided to go to the wall on 2 and take them. I took them and hit fourth gear. I started coming up to the cones for turn 3 so I decided to downshift.
I downshifted into 3rd and heard what I thought was the clutch missing the gear and then felt no drive on the bike. At this point I drove my bike off the track and behind the tires. I looked down and saw my chain hanging. No big deal I can get the chain back on the sprocket and be out there next session right........ WRONG
When the chain flew off the sprocket it managed to cause a decent amount of damage. It broke my clip on, sheared some of the bolts on my sprocket, and most imporant and damaging part cracked my engine case. Engine case was cracked and leaking oil into the belly pan. So with no way to fix the engine for the rest of the weekend I called it a night and here I am back at home.
Met a few NESR's today before my unfortunate accident. Hopefully next time I can actually stick around the whole weekend.
So in closing anyone have a 1999-2002 r6 engine they scavenged parts off? I need to get an R6 left side engine case so I can have my engine rebuilt.
I meant to post this here:
yeah
Dude JB weld that piece back on and call it a day and get back out there. It'll be fine.

Hey Man... sorry to hear about your short weekend. If you get desparate, give Argo a call... they don't advertise parts, but they do sell them. I needed some last race weekend and nobody had anything... sure as sh** they had what I needed. Then again, sounds like you have time... eBay could be your best friend too.
Dude you racing? I didn't see you up there tonight? I came home to sleep in my warm comfy bed with my warm comfy girls ass!!

The fix isnt really a JB weld type. If you saw the piece and location of the piece that was missing you would understand.Originally posted by rmbbikes

yeah... thats usually what happens when the chain goes unless youre lucky. it broke your clip on or your rear set? take a picture of the damage and maybe we can come up with a plan.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

We were lucky that day, no serious red flags or crashes. The number of CW's on Thursdays is pretty minimal so anything serious creates long delays.Originally posted by xxdcmast

Sorry you threw your chain. Cracked cases are the norm when that happens. Hope your source works out.
Me too.... and quick Im hoping to get the bike ready for the last weekend of the year but we will see.Originally posted by WebCrush

You must be a member of The R6 Board ??
I think KB said it best (though it may have been after you left? ) Your case is junk anyways, JB Weld that peice back on and just don't bolt nothing to it, it'll probably last foreverYour belly pan will catch the oil (it did Friday) if it fails.
