    YZ426F for a track bike?

I've been tossing the idea of maybe getting a YZ426 (it's my old bike) and trying my luck at racing next season. I won't be looking to set no speed records or anything, my only goal would be to put a smile on my face while doing it.
I've checked a few out while up a the track and saw various setups, i'd like to know exactly what i would need to make it track ready before i buy the bike? I know the wheels and tires need to be replaced and some gearing changes will need to be made.. What about the brakes? Do i have to do anything to the suspension? Any idea what i'd be looking to spend to get the bike ready for the track?
    idiotboy, didn't you have a YZ400 racebike?
    Thanks for any help

I ran with the stock brakes and suspension. If you are going to more than just trackdays then I would upgrade the front brake.
I increased the damping all around which help get rid of the wallow, but I don't think I will lower the bike.
Don't forget to run a bottle for the crankcase vent.

    YZ426F for a track bike?

Yeah Mark, I still have that, raced it saturday.I spent about 2 grand.Wheels, tires, rotors, sprockets, front caliper, shorter chain, used a front master cyl. off an old street bike. My suspension's mostly stock, I've got a stiffer rear spring in there, and I crank up the compression damping in the front to keep it from diving on the brakes. My buddy Adam has his CRF lowered and the pegs scrape real easy.I talked to a couple other dudes who tried stock front brakes, and they fade very quickly.
Buy it, race it, I need someone to dice with for last place !

    Cool picture ducman

I'm ready to buy the bike, my friend selling it just has to make up his mind. I'm hoping to get it tomorrow
I prolly won't be done in time for the next race weekend to battle for last place with ya Joel but i'll try my best to at least get a set of wheels and tires. I was hoping to spend less than 4k on a bike and setup, it should be close Thanks for the tips
