do you really need to get this? my bike runs great, no out of the ordinary noise. my manual tells me to check valve clearance, again no noise. should I wait or ge this done?

You should get this done. Valves tighten as they age and get quieter. This is not a good thing and eventually leads to burned valves and lost compression. I suspect this is the first scheduled valve adjust too so it's quite likely they'll all need adjustment.Originally posted by double agent

That said, I'd schedule the work for the Winter as a couple of thousand miles of extra riding won't be a problem and it may take awhile to get shims and stuff to set the valve clearances
For the cost of the service, you could own all the tools, the service manual; and do the work yourself. It's not at all hard, just a little time consuming.
I do alot of work on my bike myself, but when it comes to motor work I leave that to the pros. Any reliable people out there? The only place around here is wind mill cycle, and I would't trust them with my bike. there is also the pit stop but if you dont have a ducati he kinda gives you the cold shoulder. any suggestions?
I was thinking of bringing it to bettincourts in brockton. It's were I got it . Plus it will be a nice ride before I have to give it to them.
I would go to Suzuki/Triumph in Swansea before Bettencourt's for service. Just my opinion.

I'll give them a call thanks.
