Just took my Multi off of the tender to get it ready for riding this week, and would not start..
Starter clicks, but nothing further. All lights and instrument control lights come on and all looks ok. Did see "Low Voltage" a couple of times, and went to try jumping to a car battery (while the car was not running.) After, the starter clicked more reliably, but still the engine did not turn over. Yes, there is fuel in the tank.
Suggestions?
fuses?

Good point - will check.
Put a volt meter to your battery. Should be over 12 volts.
13 would be better if was on the tender. Fuses shouldn't be a problem if you here it clicking. Your battery is suspect.
Fuses - OK
Battery - 11.75 VDC at battery terminals (measured after trying to start many times, after previously attempting jump via car battery)
11.75 is too low. When you hit that starter, it'll drop right off below 8, I'd guess.

Tender went to solid green recently, and checked voltage @ 13.06 VDC. Decided to try again, and still won't start. A couple of additional observations...
When pressing and hold the start button, the starter does not 'click' at the rate I would normally expect.
And, I cannot see how this matters, but there is an error message that occasionally appears, something to the effect of 'calibrating preload'
Just because there is sufficient voltage doesn't mean the battery is capable of providing sufficient amperage to crank that thing over.
If I recall those things barely start as is. Boosting with the car should deliver enough juice as long as the connection is solid. If that really doesn't work again you might as well just throw your hands in the air and swear at it for a bit. Life with a Ducati tends to be interesting to say the least.....

Possibly fried starter relay, I'd say call dealer and get it in and repaired on the warranty, don't tell them you tried to jump it, just say battery is charged 12+ V...
Those things have too many electrical gadgets, check neutral light is on, try starting with clutch in, side-stand up, etc.
If all fails call dealer, should be under warranty
ask around here Multistrada - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
some great collective knowledge on that forum, and as anywhere lot's of useless advice![]()
I have the same thing happening on my streetfighter right now. I tried to start it with a low battery and then changed the battery now nothing. It runs and rides fine but it won't start. I suspect trying to run it with low voltage burned something out.
Asked someone who knows those bikes very well, either bad connection or bad battery, no other common issues.
was the bike stored in a heated place? I had batteries crack from cold, they freeze when discharged and that damages them
trying to start with low voltage can damage starter relay
Warranty for 2 years on those babies calling the dealer is another option.
I would have also suggested the battery. Call your dealer!!
You try to pop start it?

Check battery terminals for corrosion and snug
Follow ground cable and attachment to block / frame
Car battery should have spun it, plugs out push and see if it turns over
Jack up stem nut and slip a KTM under it

Sounds like par for the course for a Ducati. I'm having flashbacks. OP: Good luck with your bike and I hope it's a simple fix....but if after you fix it and more problems happen don't be afraid to sell it.

Lots of "great advice" (including prop'ing up with KTM - not practical, but funny![]()
At this point, I suspect (battery, starter relay, ?starter?). Everything else looks clean/good/no-problem. Anyway, dealer opens tomorrow, email in their inbox. Will take it from there!
Keep the faith. I have had 0 problems with my 2012 Multistrudel. A fantastic machine.
All is well...
After the dealer took good care of me and the bike (replaced the dead battery), I got out for my 1st ride of the year today on the Multistrada! Turned out the battery would not output enough amps to start the engine.
It always surprising how often batteries are the issue even when we don't want to believe they are the problem or think they are fine. Glad you got it sorted.
My Saturday ride foiled by a dead battery (and Hipsters) went to visit friends in Philly and was promised a loaner bike 675 Triple!
But now it does not start after the winter storage. Have no fear, local Hipster Bike shop is here! My buddy already bought a new batter from them, first thing I asked him "Is It Prepped?" "Yep, they filled with acid and charged it too!!"
Grab gear, get a ride to garage, install new battery.... no bueno...
-You sure it's charged?
-Yep, they did it while I waited, charged in like 5 minutes...
[facepalm]
So we put the Tender on the bike and walk back to the house because his wife dropped us of and took the car, day is half-wasted, spent the rest of the day wondering around downtown Philly on foot... I can think of worse ways to spend the afternoon, so not all that bad.
Got back to garage few hours later, bike fired right up!
