I have a 2000 Honda CBR600f4 and at times when I really let loose on the throttle it seems to loose power for maybe a split second then it get it back again. It happens when it reaches high RPMS. A fellow from one of the rides said it could be the fuel pump or maybe the relay. Also when the engine is warmed up and it idles kinda rough..... any thoughts or does anyone have a similar problem what might cause that???

It isn't the fuel pump or relay. Doesn't work like that.
That happened on the 2000 f4 that I had. I was told it was a worn dog bone or something like that (beyond my knowledge of the mechanics of a bike/clutch/transmission system). It would skip in 3rd like hitting fuel cut, and then get back on it.
The bad news is that the repair was a little costly, much to the tune of it being easier to just get a motor for $400 and drop it in entirely. They said it will progressively get worse to the other gears.

Worn transmission dog.
would a transmission dog be a pretty good bang tho? i'm thinking his description sounds more like a misfiring issue

It is def a misfire issue and not a transmission, it does not pop outta gear or anything like that it just loses power for a sec then get it back... it feels like the engine is not getting fuel..... I think im gonna have my carbs checked out.....
Anyone have any recommendations??? there is a printout on how to clean the carbs for my bike but am kinda iffy doing it myself hence this is my first sports bike and I have never cleaned carbs before....

Here is the link and let me know what you guys think? I never took carbs off a bike before so let me know what I might be in for if I should try to attempt this.
go to Bergs - he is THE guy on this site for any fueling issues![]()
You're gonna hurt Chuck's feelings by saying that.
Besides, at two hours away from me he could easily stop at Mark's (TLRMan) in Beverly.
plaidon - If the bike sat for a while then, yeah, maybe a carb clean is a good idea but if you've been riding it the entire time and haven't done any modifications then it's probably going to be something else other than carb cleaning.
See what I mean?
Maybe faulty fuel pump relay??? the fuel pump is not kicking in at certain times

The fuel pump cycles on every few seconds for a second or two. Does not run continuously.
Fuel pump issues would not be a quick misfire.

If that is the case then it just does not turn on when it is suppose to, and the engine is relying on gravity feed at very high rpms when it needs the fuel to be pumped into the engine, maybe??

The fuel pump feeds the float bowls. If the float bowls ran low, you would start to get low power and eventually stumbling but not an instant glitch for a second.
also I feel the bike is running rich because at red lights the bike would almost stall at times.... So maybe a sticky float or air filter problem? I will try to see whats up with the airflow this weekend
