the temp rises fast at a stop light jumping over 200 mark then jumps around untill it hits 244 then it just blinks HI i need to know what to do.........
Bad water pump maybe?
Why did you change the tstat? I assume it was overheating before you did that? Has the new thermostat made any difference better or worse or was it acting just like this before you changed it?
First step as jim said is to make sure its burped properly and no air is in there anywhere.
Also do a compression check just to be safe. IF your head gasket goes it can cause this even with out mixing fluids. If your compression is good then your gasket probably isn't causing it, move on.
If your cap isn't holding pressure there will moste likely be chalky dried residue around it from coolant.
Have you flushed out the system? If you have a bunch of crap sitting in your radiator blocking flow it can cause this.
Take a look in your radiator thru the cap and make sure there is no visible junk in your pasages that you can see although I doubt it would get that bad at this age, but if there is then you should deffianately do a good flush on everything.
May sound dumb but did you put the thermostat in corectly? If you clocked it wrong or put it in backwards it can block flow and cause over heating.
Last but not least like Eric says if your waterpump is gone you will over heat.
