I got a 99' zx6e and its known thoes bikes have 2nd gear problems, mine is still in good shape.Anyhow im thinking in the future of getting a 05-06 zx6 (636). Do all Kawasaki ninjas got trans problems or "shitty " trans compared to other bikes.
There are many bikes out there whos 2nd gear is "known to have problems" but I think there are that many people out there who don't know how to shift properly. Every bike I've ever ridden that supposedly had an issue with 2nd gear was fine when I rode it.
Take the problematic 2nd gear comments with a grain of salt.
ya any bike will have second gear problems if the previous owner liked to hit rev limiter and slam gears
however i was also looking at the 05-06 636's recently and haven't really dug up any dirt on them, its all about how they are maintained and treated

yeah. dan reamber me .. pat? Same with every bike though maintained is key, most of these super sport bikes are beaten anyhow. Its like buying a manual mustang gt....u expect it to be beated, but if its beated right then it will be fine. lolol
I rode an '05 636 for the first 27,000 miles of it's life and it was superb. Not one problem but as stated I did routine matinence
my 04 ran and shifted pretty mint. I have a buddy with an 06 and his has been reliable as well

I've been racing Kawasakis for 15 years and I've never had a tranny issue.
My 03 636 is fine but I will say if you're going into second close to redline and you don't know how to shift she'll let you know.
