    brake pads and fluid

    hello all,

I'm looking for some educated suggestions on street-use only brake bads and fluid for the front of my 03 GSX-R 600, to go along with my new SS lines. This will be my first time swapping the brakes on a bike.

From my research so far, it seems like my best bet might just be to stick with the stock stuff. If so, any recommendations on where to get it?

    Thanks,

    -Ian-

you can get some galfer HH pads or EBC HH pads for some serious stopping power. They last quite a while too on the street.

Fluid, I use the galfer standard DOT 4 fluid. No need to get crazy on the street... the fluid doesn't get hot enough.

Just be cautious. Race pads are not necessarily good for the street. They need heat in them to fully meet their full expectations. Just riding around on on the streets does not necessarily bring up the full operating temperatures of the pads.

fluid is your choice. degs and I use maxima, but there's no siginificant stopping power gained from it

    Re: brake pads and fluid

thanks guys. yea I specifically mentioned "street-use only" because I don't want to deal with any concerns about heat-up time. I'm very familiar with the different types of pads, as I have done extensive research for my car. I just am not familiar with brands for motorcycles.

I think I'm goint to stick with OEM pads. I believe the ATE Super Blue I got for my car is DOT 4. If that's the case, I may just use what I have left over for the bike.

I use EBC HH pads and Prestone DOT4 fluid for the race bike as well as the street bike. No issues thus far.

Jim is gonna let me try out his setup to see if I like it before purchasing new pads. I'm still on the stockers now, so it should be a good comparison after I swap the lines.

I run EBC pads and Bellray super DOT-4. As for using leftover fluid, i wouldn't bother. For the price of a bottle it's not worth using old stuff,JMO Never had any issues with those pads. Street and track day usage.

Regular HH pads should be fine for street use, and depending on your bike may be the OEM pad compound.
