A week ago I bought a 02' CBR F4I and yesterday registered it and went for a ride and noticed the frontend shaking when I would brake. So I started looking around and notice the front wheel on backwards.
Not just the tire the whole wheel, so last night I turned it around and now the brakes drag.
If I spin the front wheel it only turns about 3/4 of a revolution. It did not do this before I turned the wheel in the correct direction.![]()
Flip the brake pads around in the calipers? As in, the pads need to be "set" in the right direction? Sounds like a case where I'd try to get new pads, though, and try again.
EDIT: Caliper piston isn't frozen, is it?
Are the rotors going the wrong direction now? I believe that you usually don't like to reverse rotors once they've been used in one direction. (Some have an arrow showing their rotational direction.)

wheel spacers are reversed?

Clean the f out of the rotors perhaps finish with a light swirl sanding.
then examine your calipers
Mostly if the wheel sticks in 1 spot then the rotor is probably warped or if your lucky not installed properly. Figure out which 1 then change it new or flea bay

Oh Oh I got it!!!
The rotors and pads are now different thicknesses. You need to change the left pad to the right caliper???
In other words flip the pads the same direction as you flipped the rotors. Except keep them facing forward. So outside right pad becomes inside left. inside right becomes awww shit if it doesn't work right...... get new pads and seat them properly.
I'm more concerned about the head shake. Do you think that is caused by the brake rotors being backwards?
Wheel out of balance or do you need a head bearing???

Okay it's all sorted out. Right after I typed this I remembered that I had not swapped the pads around when I flipped the wheel around.
I moved the pads so they are on the same mating (swapped them left to right) surface as they were before and presto the wheel spins free.
The annoying squeal is gone and the front end shake appears to be gone also.![]()
So the million dollar question, do I bother replacing the pads?
Thanks for the help.
You might as well. There cheap and easy, should only take like 10mins.
