sent him a PM asking for help for a DID 525 gold rivet chain, that sound about right everone? Will this chain be around $100 range?
so I still have my bike strapped down on my truck. sounds like I should just take it down. was planning on dropping it off somewhere, but you guys have convinced me to either go to "this guy" or ask for help in the driveway
well I'm just going to get a replacement chain & leave the sprockets alone
make sure your rear tire is in line.
there's now way there might be an alignment issue with the chain ripping off?![]()
If your gonna do it your self you might want some of this because many bolts and such are on there pretty tight

you'll fuck up your sprockets in no time and assumable wear out your chain a lot faster if rear wheel is off kilter. wait, what the hell do I know - my street bike has a belt (jealous) and I crash my track bike well before a chain goes to shit.....
If you mess with the tire you could break the bead. If so keep these in mind in case that happens![]()

I keep a set of those in my...ahhh never mind.
If you plan on putting the chain on yourself, you will need a rivet tool.

nah I'm not planning on doing myself. my lack of experience working on the bike doesnt make me feel confident enough
well I've got the bike on my truck, and plan on dropping it off somewhere after work today. I've been calling and leaving PM's, but no response yet. If anyone knows somewhere near me that I can drop this thing off today, let me know. I want to try and ride it for another month before putting it away for the winter.
Chain and sprockets are JUNK. Replace both. Get whatever size came stock. Get steel sprockets front and rear. Get a decent o-ring chain. Clean and lube every 3 to 5 hundred miles repeat. Chain and sprockets should last about 15k on average more or less depending on riding style, maintenance, yata yata. Rivet style link will do you just fine. There are enough guys on here that have chain tools including myself. Good luck yo!!! Replace that chain at least!!

Degsy, thanks again! are you guys going out riding this weekend?
I threw my chain guard in the trash because I am anal about cleaning/lubing my chain.

New sprocket and chain dies in 2000 :csi:
Once in my youthful ignorance had rear wheel spacers reversed and then the sprockets were out of alignment about a 1/2 inch. Chain died quickly.
Please with a flashlight and straight edge make sure rear sprocket points at front sprocket edge to edge.
I almost always take day rides 250 to 400 miles then leave her but she always gets a chain lube after for next time. SO fa 13K hard no problems though a little stained from 300 miles in the rain comming from Vermont.
YOu were lucky; many chain breaking episodes end in damage or a crash. Inspect the sprockets but don't go cheap... do it right
