I'm wondering what is the general rule about tires. Seems like my rear tire is more worn than my front. When I go do a tire change, can I just change out my rear tire or do people generally change both pairs. What about mix matching brands? Currently, I got Pirelli Super Corsa SC2 front and rear. I got some Dunlop NTECs that I was gonna throw on. I'm assuming that if you change out just one tire, then you at least stick with the same tire brand and model, right?
I always stuck with same brand/model, however I could generally replace the front every other rear. For example, I could get 4k/rear and 8k/front
sticking with the same brand, changing one out is fine. switching brands, change them both. and Pirelli and Dunlop I doubt will work well together because they are at opposite ends of the carcass stiffness spectrum

I've never had any problems running different brands and changing the front and rear at different times. I've now settled on a brand, so I just order a pair when one needs to be changed, and hang onto the other one until I need it.

Track? No idea.
Street? Yes. All day. I know a number of people who prefer a front from one mfr and a rear from another. All good.
For the track stick with the same brand. I usually go 2 rears to a front with the Pirellis.

what are you using your bike for?
personally, I can't tell the difference on the street...give me 2 sport bikes on a street ride with mismatching brands, and as long as the age/wear pattern is the same, the tires are going to feel the same for me
I usually do two rears to every front. We try to go matchy-matchy on track days, but since i'm not fast, I don't worry too much as long as thy are in good shape.
