So, as part of my recent off, I managed to break my right clip-on (99 CBR F4) (there's a bunch of other stuff also broken, but for now I'm focusing on this issue).
Scouring fleabay I can get a set of OEM clip-ons for $30. I can get Woodcraft clip-ons for $150.
Is there really a reason I'd buy a set of Woodcraft vs. buying 5 OEM sets?
Yes, they are made to break off in a crash. The OEM ones are more rigid and could bend a fork in a crash. Plus they are easy to replace.

What size do you need Jason? I have a set of woodcrafts that are for a zx7 I think. I'll measure them today and will report back.

Ehhhh, I'm not sure how likely that is to happen...
In the very long run, the Woodcrafts are cheaper to replace... 10 bucks a bar.
They're also more adjustable... up, down, wide, narrow.
They may also put your hands a little lower.
That said, 30 bucks for a full set (?) of OEM clipons seems like a pretty good deal to me if you're sure they're undamaged & happy with where they put the bars.

I believe the 3 piece woodcraft ones also don't need the top triple to be removed for you to replace a bar/clamp. That's another advantage that makes it easier in the long run.
yeah, just the diameter of the bars.

Another thing to consider is going for longer bars. I noticed that your stock CBR bars do not have space at the end for something I think you should consider; hand/control guards. Especially on the brake side.
I love me some woodcraft toys. But I'm curious if there are other, more economical options out there. I believe my clipons may be vortex. They have treated me very well.
I sprung for the woodcrafts....and just bent both last round.
Just gonna call up and have new ones sent over....![]()
Chinese options for $50.
Vortex are *slightly* less expensive than Woodcraft (pre-discount) but both end up in the $140-$150 range.
Point taken on the guards, but wouldn't a longer bar make it more likely that I eff it up when I crash (not that I'm hoping for a bunch more crashes... The one I've done has been more than adequate).
1' longer, sure, probably. Don't buy 1' longer bars. Buy 1" longer bars. You think 1" is going to make a significant difference. ()
Woodcraft can accommodate.
The slightly longer bars for the lever guard are worth it. The guards themselves may get damaged in a crash, but they won't make your BIKE more prone to damage and it WILL make your bike safer by protecting that brake lever from a rogue shoulder, elbow, etc.

I have spares that are marked "TBR". I believe these are Two Brothers Racing.
Don't buy these. They suck. Seriously, the more I look at them the more I think this design is dumb.
Fortunately they don't fit your CBR anyway.
