I've notice some small cracks in the sipes of my street tire. Is that something that is consider within normal wear and tear? or do I need new tires?

Don't worry about it.
Probably just normal rot, but what's the date on the tires?
If you can't afford good tires you can't afford to ride
Contis? I had some Road Attacks that developed cracks in a matter of months.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Thanks for all your input, I will get a pict up after work asap.
The tire was new on the bike when I got it about a year ago and I've done around 6k on it. I will have to check the tire code to see how old was the tire when it got put on my bike.
Forgot to mention the tires are Dunlop Qualifier.

i've had cracks on mine too.. not anything to worry about. Bridgestone BT021 I think
2010 Kawasaki Z1000
Run em till they show the cords then replace.

Manufacturer may warranty them. The cracks is the rubber separating, usually caused by a chemical reaction. Has nothing to do with tire age, as I have seen two current Michelin's do it in the past five or so years. Both tires were not over a year old.
The tire is having an adverse reaction to an outside element.
ME? Even if it wasn't warrantied I would have it replaced if it was my bike.

The code is 3709, so it is not old.
Here are the picts:
Thanks.
Being that new they shouldn't have cracks yet. But those aren't very bad. I say run the hell outa them next season and then grab new ones.
WTF
Might as well send the pics to the manufacturer maybe score a new set??
those are nothing to worry about. but how the hell did you get 6k out of a tire!? i would think qualifiers would wear quicker than that.![]()

I would like to think it is all because of my super smooth throttle, but in reality it is most likely due to the fact that I just don't ride the bike anywhere near fast enough.
The center is almost to the wear bar. I do short commute with this bike to work as much as I can, and hit the twisties on weekends but was never tracked. The longer I can make the tires last on this bike, the better.![]()
