Not sure where you can go in your area- but if you head east for 45 minutes you can go to New England Motorsports in Webster, MA.
Had my SV dyno'ed there at a dyno day and it cost me $20 for two runs

What are the reasons you want to get a dyno run? Are you looking for your air/fuel ratio, getting ready to add some mods and want to get a base line, or just curious what you are running for hp/trq?
The dyno in webster reads very low so if you are just curious about the output of your bike don't get upset if you go there, just remember to add between 9 and 11% to the final output. My bike runs between 178 and 184RWHP depending on the dyno and I only put out 159 and 161 in webster. They do have an air fuel sniffer there and can measure torque if you need it. June 11th they are going to be having a dyno day and it's usually about $25 to run your bike (and if you win your class you get like $75 bucks or something).
Call the Harley Dealership in Easthampton, a lot of times they won't dyno anything but Harley's.
There is another place on Rt 10 between Easthampton and Northampton called Roalnds. I know he has a dyno but he's kind of an ass, doesn't like sport bikes.
In Orange Mass there is a place called All Sport Cycles. He has a dyno and is an authorized dynojet tunner. He did some work on my bike and I got a custom map from him.
Depending on what you are going to do there are several things you want to ensure about your bike before you put it on the dyno.

The previous owner installed an aftermarket full exhaust (two brothers). Towards the end of last years riding season (and first riding season for me on this bike), I was having problems with stalling at idle, and stored the bike for the winter. Out of curiosity, a month ago I pulled the carbs off for some cleaning. Although I only suspected that the jetting was changed at the time the exhaust was installed, I now was able to verify that indeed the jet(s) were changed (dynojet jets).Originally posted by busa413

Aside from the idle problem (which is not as bad now), I have been more than happy with the bikes performance. The only other mystery I am left with is the poor gas mileage when compared to other like bikes. I will on average get in the low 30's mpg while others with like bikes are getting above 40 mpg (50 mpg have been reported by more than a few).
I do like the acceleration (tis the fun part), and wonder how much of what (mpg vs fun acceleration) can be tuned/adjusted? Though I am not overly experienced in the art of tuning, I can't help but feel there might be a simple adjustment that can gain me a few more mpg without sacrificing too much get up n go. On the other hand, If I need to address jetting (ie, change them) to get what I'm after then I want to limit how much 'working in the dark' and trial n error. The dyno I was hoping, could clue me in where I might be burning too rich (which is my 'guess' on why the poor mpg)?
Course, in the end, it just might come down to not being so heavy handed on the acceleration to realize improved mpg. If thats the case, then the dyno should help to demonstrait that as well (i'd hope), eh?

Do you have stock gearing?
What are you compairing the gas milage to, as in what type of bikes (size)?
As far as the stalling problem, what is your idle set at?
Unless you are some how making 170+ HP in your SV, there is no reason why a properly jetted 650 would get such bad mileage. My 12R averages 33mpg and it is known to be one of the worst gas hogs out there.Originally posted by ifishcat

The only other thing is if he is riding with bigger bikes that ride fast all the time and he's trying to keep up which would cause him to have to keep his revs up. That and if he is regeared it won't help.

Right now, the idle is about 1k. (which may be too high, I need to check the spec's)

No, I have not pulled the plugs. (why look at evidence that is gonna prove my guess has been right? ::sigh:: ok, i'm being lazy $#&* pull off handle bars, gas tank, radiator, hoses, who has time to sip a beer?.... course I have do the same thing to get at the carbs to fiddle with jetting and mixure screws... ok, whining over)

I'm going to bet your idle needs to come up higher actually. My busa was stalling when at idle at intersections when the idle was set at 1100 (I think the setting is suppose to be at 1150 according to the manual). A lot of busa owners, myself included, have brought the idle up to 1250 and the idle problem doesn't exist anymore. Give it a shot and see what happens, it's not hard to adjust and it's worth a shot.
Yeah if it smells really bad I would bet you are running rich. Another way to be able to tell is just to have someone ride behind you and they will be able to tell you by the smell. You shouldn't be able to smell anything while riding behind someone else, maybe while stopped at a light but not while at cruising speeds or even a little under.
How does your airfilter look?
That bike doesn't have ram air right?

Fuel economy on a Sv is wind resistance related
keeping speeds to the posted limit with stock jetting, the SV can get 55-60mpg once you start exceeding the speed limit, it depends on your areodynamisc, if you are a barn door like me, you milage will suffer, if your a lil pipsqueek, that can tuck in benind a buell flyscreen, your continue to get good economy.
with non stock jetting, your fuel economy can automaticly suffer 20%
I have over 111,000 miles 900+ fillups on my SV, and I have come to learn, my worse milage is on the highway at continuous highway speed @ 80mph I get about 35mpg drop that down to 60 and I get 45mpg
floggin it thru twisties (Deals Gap 2nd gear 4000-10,000 rpm avg 7000) I get better than 40mpg and used to get around 50 with stock jetting
Idle on a warmed up carburated SV should be 1200-1400 rpm
