ok about to go out on a long lunch ride... that kind a day!
NOT...
Bike won't stay running. Its intermittent, same thing happened last week.
Situation:
I turn the Key to On - All lights dash lights blink, tach needle swings up and down
Thumb the starter - She fires right up
Let go of the starter - she promptly dies
When this happened last week I noticed the turn signals behaving oddly.
I like one on / one off. On Hondas the front signals are always on usually.
I towed it home and forgot about it till the morning put an alternate battery into it because I killed it repeatedly trying to start it. The new battery seems to make all good again. So I chalk it up to a dead battery making the starter circuit act weird. But now the fully charged battery is doing the same thing. Any ideas? Starter switch? Tilt Sensor? Short?
electrical sucks...

Check the wires going to the turn signals and make sure they're not chewed/shorted.
So is there some magic bullet for fixing shorts?
I heard that the Honda dash can blink some codes to tell you
where the issue is. Does this work for electrical stuff?
Guess I need to hit my factory service manual.

Try starting the bike with the handlebars straight ahead, full lock left, full lock right. If it changes - you can narrow it down to one of the harnesses in/on the front end, or one that runs up to the front end.

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...
Well there must be a clue here somewhere...
Runs when starter is pushed in. So its not just a short in
regards to normal running. Otherwise it wouldn't even fire up to
begin with. My brain just can't grasp it.
Why would it shut off when I let go of the starter?
But seem for run normal when the button is pushed in?
Need to look at some schematics.

hold side of the starter relay is bad. I'd try a starter relay first and go from there.
Well thanks all.
Just a bummer to miss this beautiful day!
